I thought the whole purpose of Richo playing up the ground was to develop the kids up forward.

As yet I haven't seen anyone, other than Jack being developed.

Bring back the Cleve, play him from the goal square, as he is a good lead, I know his kicking has been off this year, but for goodness sake lets give the kid another chance.

Cleve was very poor in the wet but i agree should be brought back in, didnt think he should have been dropped. Otherwise bring back Schulz and give that a go again. Riewoldt body still bit small. Maybe Patto as a stay at home FF.

Cleve Hughes
without doubt when we drafted the boy he was held in high regards , a key forward whom would be the solution to the post richo saga, again given a small amount of time to prove himself and then suddenly droped.
Jay Shultz
he is a very good player , dump him at centre half forward and let him run a muck. Very strong on the lead and a decent kick
amazes me how when he gets in the side we play him at centre half back when the boy can obviously become a large threat up forward without being killed by the frieght train called richo.
hopefully we can wake up and give these kids a go because playing small crumbing forwards as key position players wont do it . :)

1. Until the steamer kicks a few bags in a good vfl side, there is no way you can even suggest he gets a gig in the 1s. And by bags i mean, 7 and 8s, not 3s.

2. Patto at FF hey? LMAO.....you should be given a spotters contract dude...;)

I completely agree mate.
We all no what happened against the lions when Shultz carved up their backline and kicked 5 in richo's absence. Get him down there and let polak roam as a CHB, he is not a forward.
Clever has a shit load of talent/potential and it annoys me when he gets dropped after a few weeks in the 1's. In the absence of Richo, cleve could do some really nice things. Hes gotta get in there asap if we want him to develop and adapt

They've also been using Polak as a KP forward, so it hasn't 'just' been Jack.

Also, Richo isn't 'not playing forward'...He's rotating between 'wing' and FF...Even he hasn't got the tank to run around the midfield *all* day.

I am just saying we are struggling a bit with our young forwards. Cleve kicked 7 in his first ever VFL game since then doesnt really look like doing it unfortunately. Anyway still have high hopes for him and completely disregard his game on the weekend where he had 50% gametime in the wet.

Patto is big enough to be a forward it is his preffered position when i have read articles about him and im pretty sure he was CHF in the TAC cup team of the year so it isnt stupidity. Why not give it a shot is my point.

Schulz i would love to see get the role for a bit though i think he has all the tools, and i love it when he is taking screamers.

schulz was playing his most consistent football at CHB this year. dunno why they dropped him.

i dont think cleve is going to make it. he seems a little overawed against the big boys. its mostly the mental side he needs to get right and believe in himself that he can make it. easier said than done!! needs a bit of aggro as well. Sarj has had plenty of oppurtunties just has not produced. maybe his last year. reckon gourdis may be the go. looks good still early days though.

I agree, Gourids is currently being developed as a tall backman, but I also reckon he should be tryed up fowardl. He obviously has size and pace (fastest over 100m in our team, 193cm, 90kg), however his actually abilty to play football is the question.

I think he is our mostly likely long term option

We need Cleve to play this week to expose the Bommers backline.
We struggle to find a way from half back to our forward line with no-one presenting but he could fill the gap.

I disagree, against the bummers our smaller fowardline should dominate. Fletcher, Micheal and Ryder will struggle to keep up with the small fowards and Essendon don't really have any really good small backs

Morton and Reiwoldt have been very good this season. Both were quiet against Cats, but should not be dropped. Hughes and Schultz should never have been dropped either. Hughes was doing pretty well without kicking accurately and Schultz only had a quiet one against Saints. Hughes has kicked close to 20 goals for Coburg this year too. Both are more valuable than Polak. Polak turned the ball over a couple of times against Cats and cost us goals. At least bring in Schultz this week. I really want to see Hughes, Connors and Polo push for selection very soon and stay in the seniors due to good form

Come off it MadTiggy06.... my Grandma could kick 20 goals for Coburg this year..
And she's been gone 10 years!!! (R.I.P)

*makes sign of the cross*

Psst......And my Grandma would have kicked 25 on Schulz !!
;)

Just wondring if you have a suggestion / opinion on who should be playing in our forward line???????

if we played this forward line for the rest of this year, it would be a gun forward line within a year

FF Edwards Hughes Brown
HF Morton Reiwoldt Newman

Yep, that's a gun Burger's forwardline.......... ;)

But I'd like Morton in the Seniors,
and Newman running free from the backline.

:D

Cut the crap deliberate.
Why don't you offer us your opinion on how you would structure our forward line with the available talent we have on our list.
It will be very interesting to see what you think.
Afterall you always seem to know what won't work and who is no good but never offer any solutions, so put up or shut up!!!

honestly - not much really.

take our richo and brown and our forward line instantly becomes the worse in the league no matter who else you throw in there:(

reiwoldt
edwards
pettifer
polak
hughes
schulz

are probably all there is - an except for pettifer - i doubt any of them have ever kicked more than 3 goals in a game ( oh - there was this one time - at the gabba where schulz kicked....)

Wow......there's a hole in the wall and Tiger67 want's me to fix it?
You cut the crap Tiger67.....when you see the traffic lights not working do you get out of your car and fix them? BS

Rule 1: If a guys been tried in a position or area of the ground AND FAILS AND FAILS AND FAILS.....even you Tiger67 wouldn't play him there AGAIN. Or would you numbnuts?

Rule 2: Play someone, anyone, anywhere.....if they take to it.....that's the easy part.....if they don't try them somewhere else. If they don't take to ANY position offered send them back to the Burgers to retire and then DELIST them. We don't have a millenium.....and I don't believe in prayer.

Rule 3: If we want to have success eventually, like a good Business Plan, see the end in sight first......Can you see Schulz or Hughes or JON on the Premiership Dias?.....(You might, I can't)......then why bother with time wasters?

Rule 4: Morton stays, never to leave the forwardline (only has brains for forward line), Riewoldt gets fitter to match his quick footballing sense, Edwards SOMETIMES gets a flea/parasitic position in the forward line, Browny hangs around for the same Edwards reason....just. Newman never goes into forward 50, plays from back to CHF....more damaging. Richo never goes near the forwardline again....that's over with.....we go forward now, we think after the 'Richo' years, we plan for..... after Richo.

Rule 5: I don't give a shit in what order you play them, as forward line's are now a jumbled, interchange off/interchange on, ever changing mass of confusion now. Just play forwards like Morton & Jack in that area and build around them.

Rule 6: We are slowly choking Lids career in the forwardline. Drop some commandos in there, rescue him, and get him out of there. He's too young to die a slow death in that part of the ground. Why try to turn him into a young Browny so early in his career?

Rule 7: Football is about now. Tomorrow never comes. Schulz, Hughes & JON get 3 weeks straight in the seniors, one last time. We're not a ____ing nursery.....Foley, Kingy, Cotchin, Lids, etc can all have an impact straight away. Enough holding the weakest one's hands. We are trying to build a strong Senior side. After the 3 week period, if these guys can't have 3 REASONABLE to VERY GOOD games IN A ROW.........dump them forever.

Today's game doesn't allow you to constantly keep the same set up. It can be planned against and beaten too easily. But some players are not suited to every position. The game does allow us to spot good players, great players and rubbish.

The problem with Terry is that he just can't differentiate between the types.

Terry's never coached any team to the ultimate prize.
Just like you and me Tiger67. Terry can't structure a team....as his record with us has proven.

And you call me out to structure something Terry can't successfully do?

Next time arrange for me a 5 year deal, and I'll have serious crack!

Cheers

The forward line I would have for the rest of the year would be:

HF: Brown Riewoldt Edwards
F: Morton Hughes Polak
Have players rotating through like Cotchin, Deledio, Tambling, Connors and Richo

Not contradicting at all.

HF: Morton Hughes Brown
FF: Cotchin Schulz Riewoldt
