what a couple of days. talk about batton down the hatches we are getting attacked from everywhere. former coaches, the media, saints members, opposition supporters what a nightmare.
i'll be there saturday night regardless, what an idiot i am.
below is the official correspondance from the club, read it and weep. i would have also posted the inner saintum news but it seems irrelevant because it was written before the debacle.
Dear Sponsor ,
No doubt you have heard the news today in relation to the departure of Malcolm Blight as Senior Coach from the St Kilda Football Club .
As a valued business partner of the St Kilda Football Club we would like to communicate to you that despite the announcement today, business will be as usual across all aspects of the operation . The Board of Directors, Senior Management , Players and all support staff are all committed to ensuring the Club is a successful and powerful force in the AFL competition .We would like to thankyou for your constant and continued support , without this we would not be able to achieve this goal .
Attached is a copy of the official media release that has been circulated today. It states the clear position of the Club .
I have only been at St Kilda for a few weeks and have taken the position as the General Manager , Commercial Operations. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to meet all of the valued sponsors and supporters. It is unfortunate that our first correspondence is on this matter however I look forward to meeting everyone in the near future .
Once again thankyou for your continued support , the club is only ever as strong as its supporters !
Kind Regards ,
Aine Crowley

MEDIA RELEASE
1pm, Thursday 19 July
The St Kilda Football Club has today announced its decision to part company with its senior coach Malcolm Blight.
At the time of Malcolm’s appointment it was agreed that if either party felt at any time that the relationship was not working then either party could walk away. Accordingly the relationship has been terminated.
The St Kilda Board met last night and made its decision to walk away which was conveyed to Malcolm at a meeting this morning.
We acknowledge that Malcolm is a unique individual with an equally unique coaching and management style. We have also admired the success he achieved as a coach at Geelong and Adelaide.
However, over the last two or three months we have concluded that Malcolm’s essentially autonomous style simply does not fit with the
direction we believe the club must pursue.
In every respect it is a most disappointing outcome - however St Kilda can’t be successful unless we all embrace one another – the board, the players, the supporters, and the people we appoint.
The Club’s determination and resolve to be a great club once again has been strengthened by this sad process.
The board has asked Director of Football Grant Thomas to take over as senior coach effective immediately.
It was Malcolm’s decision not to attend this press conference.
