Well seeing Friday night is my favourite time slot and we only get one per season I will be there.

Have some frothies after work, head down to Subi with the rest of the purple army, the light towers standing like guiding beacons and the constant noise that 40,000 people make giving me goosebumps.

3 Hours later either hit the town to celebrate one of our most famous victories with out a care in the world. Or if we lose head home to a bottle of jacks and drink till i forget about the result and the fact that I have just been ripped off by the over priced watered down beer they serve.

I go to support Freo, I go to show I care
I go to watch Footy and shout why the **** did he kick it there?

I go to show my colours, it's what us footy fans do,
The only problem is I am in purple and everyone else is in blue.

I go to see our kids and hope this year has not been for nought,
I go to hopefully see some fight from this club that I support.

It does not really matter why I bother to go,
Win or lose I love em, go Freeeeeeoooooo

Nice work, have you submitted it to the board for consideration?

I'm going, for the following reasons...
  • I have missed a few games this year - esp those stupid 1pm Saturday games... impossible for me to get to them.
  • I like Collingwood - they are my "second team"... actually the only other team that I like - the rest can go get fkd.
  • It will be a pleasure to watch the Collingwood machine live - even if it is my beloved Freo copping the mother of all shellackings at their hand.
  • I can go there with NO EXPECTATIONS, so I won't care when the aforementioned shellacking unfolds before my eyes!!!! Just like the good old days!! :)
  • Since 2003, there has always been an expectation of we 'could' win this - and very often of we 'should' win this... and the bitter taste of disappointment watching a distinct lack of heart and endeavour from my club has so often spoiled what should've been a fun afternoon / night at the footy. This week - hey I know they won't win, so I can sit back, relax, have a beer or two and just watch the game...

Contemplating not renewing my membership for next year. Not sure I can be bothered with this shit any more... But for this week, I can go along with the freedom of not caring - and I bet I'll have more fun that I have had at a game all year.

I'll be going along. Sadly, the City to Surf means I can't really get trashed though. Yay me!

I'm thinking the same, though it has more to do with (a) not being able to get to all the games these days (b) watching footy at Subiaco is terrible compared to any other scenario (@home, @friends, @pub) (c) taking a step back from the FFC makes life more enjoyable and (d) most of my regular footy watching buddies are FIFO these days. Which is a shame because I'm actually expecting some serious improvement in 2012.

Hopefully being out of the country during the renewal period will make my decision easier...

I'm going.

I'm renewing my membership next year.

I think there is a bit of hysteria on the board at the moment. While it is popular to say we can't blame injuries for everything, I don't think people are giving credit to the incredible impact the injuries have had. Not having our best team on the park is only the tip of the iceberg. It flows into all the things like team structures, execution of game plans, balance, chemistry and so on. Everybody talks about how tight the game is and how little difference there is between the top and the bottom, yet we have been playing our magoos all year in an incredibly tough competition and because they have finally rolled over and died everybody is caning them. There are a lot of inconsistencies in these attitudes. The second tier have been holding the fort all year and now they are f***ed and the cavalry aren't enough anymore, and they have arrived on lame horses and without any ammo, anyway. Yeh, we didn't give a whimper last Saturday, but it's pretty hard to whimper when your tongue has been ripped out and your throat cut.

Whilst I largely agree, I just find the year has been extremely dissapointing given last year and for now I also think I need a break from it and wont be going. Whilst I have been a member since 1997 and only missed a handful of games in that time with travel, next year is in doubt as I will miss half the season anyway being away.

Never missed a home game due to weather or lack of passion till now.

Would go but gonna be in Nice this weekend!! Think its a good week to miss the game..

Will be there, anaesthetised well beforehand by copious quantities of 11 year old shiraz.

And I'll be renewing as well, reckon the roller coaster ride will pick up a fair bit of speed next year:o

Roller coasters only pick up speed on the downward cycle. :(

I'm seriously considering not going.

Before you call me a bandwagoner I've been a fan and member for years through dire periods. I go to all the games I can and stay till the end even if we're getting flogged.

But I've never been as disgruntled as I am now. The team is playing an insipid brand of football with no heart and whilst the club has our motto as passionate and proud I'm seeing none of that from the players.

Now with Pav, Mundy, Ballantyne, Broughton, McPhee, Silvagni et al missing I can't see us getting within 100 points.

If I go I'll just get angry and frustrated so why put myself through that?

We've stopped as if shot, surely that means that we're embarking on the slow climb back to the top?

Or maybe slowing down to pick up some new punters (there's a few empty seats, ****ing well told that two bit carny Weber to make sure everyone was properly strapped in!!)?

Either way, bump the kid from Dongara to the front of the queue!!:D

Cmon people! The boys need us! Suck it up! It is not about YOU and how you will feel...it is about getting behind the boys and supporting the shit out of this footy team we all love!

You have an excellent attitude shibz.

Especially for somebody who is only going to see half a game. :p

Lol why would I only be seeing half a game?

I spoke to Mum about it today. She said the best way to deal with this situation is to cheer and celebrate the little things...

I'm going because in my 17 years of being a foundation member I have seen more Losses, Beltings, Hidings, Floggings, Rodgerings, Bashings, Whippings, Latherings, Trouncings, Beatups........ etc at the football, and that is just to get a beer, pie, have a pee and get pushed into a sardine can of a train home! Well you get the picture.

While I don't accept mediocrity I only have to look at what happened to the Weagles last year to know what injuries to key players can do to a team, and how that can turn around very quickly.

Next year will be better, at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Looking forward to seeing you other brave souls there so we can say goodbye to our "annus horribilis".
