I think of the candidates actually in open contention right now, if it came down to Leppa or Simpson I'd be fine with either. If Craig was involved as a senior assistant to either I'd actually be really happy with that - I don't think he's the guy to lead the club, but I'm certain he'd have a lot of knowledge and experience to bring as a senior assistant. On that, why is it that I so often read about Leppitsch with a mentor, but not Simpson? He's got more coaching experience doesn't he?

Moving along... I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if we ended up appointing Clarkson. The club people involved are making a point of talking about whittling down the list of 5 they have already interviewed, obviously trying to make the process look as robustly structured and thoroughly executed as possible. Even if it's a good move, it would look odd to spend the best part of a month convincing everyone they're conducting a thorough interview process, then ditching the whole thing at the last gasp and making a hasty approach to Clarkson.

I'll keep faith in Lethal and Peter Schwab nailing the right person for the job.
It looks to be Leppa, although there maybe a dark horse about to bolt....

Who knows, my initial choice of Roos then Williams have all missed...so too Tudor being Roos understudy at the Demons..Glad I didn't part with some hard earned :)

If Neil Craig gets even employed by Brisbane in any way I will be very disappointed.

This is a bloke who 2 years ago chose Melbourne over Brisbane to be senior assistant, also he was Neeld's right hand man in the biggest demolition of a club list in recent history, I can't believe he even got an interview.

Just highlights for me what a stuff up the board have made, Melbourne have Roos while we are talking with their leftovers.

Absolute disgrace!!!

I have faith in them to choose the best from the candidates however I doubt the candidates are anything special or much of an improvement on Vossy.

Not really. Seems every time you put up something that a Journalist has said you get bombarded with how crap his credibility is. I think we all know journalists are wrong a lot so there is no need to quote me and tell me that you think that.
Really? You wouldn't take even the slightest umbrage at being told in a somewhat aggressive manner by someone they think very little of your opinion?

Greg Denham has an unenviable reputation for being gloriously wrong. If someone quotes a journo I would think it quite normal for their reputation to be scrutinised.

Yeah, nah. Way over the top. If that's your opinion so be it, no need to abuse that poster because of it.
This.

It reads like you felt like xplo was having a crack at you. I don't think that was the case.

I appreciated you posting the snippet, but also then thought 'Meh, Denham.'

Sometimes you like to think you're looking at an issue objectively, but in reality that's pretty hard.

Intuitively Leppitsch as senior coach with Craig as a senior assistant with a mentoring role, feels a lot easier to swallow than Craig as senior coach with a mentoring role with Leppitsch as senior assistant.

Even though in reality we're talking about the same people in similar roles.

I guess I would feel a lot more comfortable in a firm show of faith in Leppitsch, and a cautious show of faith in Craig, because I think that's what both of them need right now.
I'm still not entirely sure that Craig's record over the last four years gives him a lot of credibility for any major role, though.

So do all journalists. We all know they speak rubbish most of the time. It is ok I won't be posting what I hear on radio anymore because everybody's credibility is rubbish.

I've got nothing against majority of AFL journalists. Just Greg's track record is average. His last story had us 'into Jack Riewoldt in a big way' the day before he re-signed. Rohan Connolly (The Age) said he hadn't seen Greg at a game in 10 years.

Maybe he's just good at working the phones. Maybe he's stealthy, but dunno. More than a grain of salt with his stuff.

Aww but BB, i like your photo, lol...

Anyways, after having a quick stickybeak at the Richmond board, they all seem to respect Leppa massively, and will be disheartened to see him go. Sounds promising doesn't it. They allude to him being a great influence on the team and an integral part to their improvement this year..
