i need answers.

how bad the injury ???
if it's only 2 more games i would strongly consider a hold, as long as i can cover him with SDT.
otherwise, it may be time to cash in on his 326k pricetag. can't afford another donut.

as i've said before... the backs ain't the same this year without the Lockyers and Carrazzos. a steady player like Symes (ave 77ppg) is worthy of being a keeper.

I have Symes too. I am going to bench him and play Wonna. What I am hoping is that Chad gets back before Symes, his price drops to around 400k or just under, then I will make the upgrade Symes -> Chad.

I have no backline bench and I'm keeping Chad Cornes, so I'm not putting up with two 0's for the next few weeks. With the value in the backs at the moment, I'm either trading him for Peter Burgoyne at 341k or Darren Milburn at 299k this week. If you don't have Brenton Goddard, that's another good option. IMO Symes isn't a keeper because other than two great games his average is barely 60 and with Knights and Reilly back he'll get less time in the midfield.

i had symes from the start, and because my overuse of trades i can't afford to trade him so i will probally keep him and give one of my benchies a run.

Whats the go this year with the backlines injuries.
there killing me

depends if someone can fill his shoes or do a half decent effort on the bench. eg: Wonaeamirri or S.D.Thompson. I feel he will be out for 3 weeks more and by this time Reilly and Nights will be at full strenth.

Is there room for symes when adelaide have: Goodwin, S.Thompson, Edwards, Reilly, Nights, Vanberlo, Porplyzia, Mcleod, Shirley (tagging), Doughty (HBF or tagging).

I personally would trade him out now if you have no solid subs but would wait as i rate him above Doughty and Shirley and can roam his HBF and pick up easy kicks and marks.

If they cant fit him they will take out Shirley...and he can take Massies spot too.

My backline was rubbish and couldn't support Cornes and Symes on the bench.

Traded him for Goddard before the last lock-out.

If you can afford to keep him for 7th back with-out copping 0's then don't trade. There are doubts about his ability to maintain decent scores with others returning, but I for one didn't have to consider this. Good luck with it though!

trade symes and avoid a 0 unless pfeiffer or sselwood play & trade josh hill for bjohnson & this is the last week for me to do that trade.

or keep hill and trade symes to a milburn to avoid a 0.

or if pfeiffer plays, wait for him to go up a little bit more and trade him for a milburn.

thoughts?

also, kennelly or milburn what are people's thoughts

for kennelly and milburn i would definately go for milburn.
he is such more of a consistent dream teamer
also kenelly will probally get injured costing you another trade

what about chris newman with bowden out he gets alot of the footy

Beau Waters 4 PM, get on this thread. You need to make your decision on Symes and use the trade.
You've got to make the same decision too, except I've got Proud/Pfeiffer where you've got N.Brown to cover for him if needed. Think you should be more worried. :p

IMO Symes isn't a keeper because other than two great games his average is barely 60 and with Knights and Reilly back he'll get less time in the midfield.

I don't seem to be on the same page as some of you. Symes plays across halfback. All this talk of him getting less points in the midfield once Knights and Reilly come back doesn't make sense. Bock, Johncock and McLeod are testiment to the fact that playing in the Adelaide backline = high DT points. This is where the majority of Symes' points come from. So Reilly and Knights' comebacks should have a minimal affect his DT scores.

cant see why ANYONE will keep him , he is only going to go down in value he has officialy peaked

Why keep him? Because if he is going to average 80 for the season then I couldn't care less what his current price is, because I'm not looking to trade him out. But then if you're not planning to keep him all season, you may as well trade him out now while he is above his market value.

So, were you planning on keeping him at the start of the year, and secondly you haven't answered 54dogs's question :D, are you going to trade him or will it depend if pfeiffer/proud are picked, you have cornes on the bench also I'm guessing? I am a crows supporter and I'm not sure.....you are 100% right about him playing off half back but he's been rotating through a wing also (where he did his injury), we all know he's a magnet (from his port and SANFL days) and this year is not just a one off, but his comments on the news the other night did worry me, "Yeah i'll have this boot on for a bit and I'll probably miss a couple with this (pointed to his boot) and regaining my fitness and then I'll have to see if my spot's still there." he was saying it tongue in cheek!

Dogs, sounds like you are in the same situation as me. What are your thoughts on Symesy? and how do you think you will handle the situation?

The decision on Symes really needs to be made this week and as BW says, it's based on whether you see him as a keeper or not. His price dropping does not matter because if he stays he is there for the season.

Keeping him or not depends on your current trade position, the strength of your bench and you belief on what he will average when he returns.

Personally, I have NBrown on the bench averaging 35 with Hartlett possibly to return but have some trade issues so I need to work out whether it's worth burning the trade for the sake of possibly 100 points over 3 weeks and picking up a player for Symes who may average 5-10 ppw more.

Thinking not at this stage mainly because of my trade position and at least some backup but everyone will be different.
