Being a West Coast man I always disliked Sydney and therefore Goodes but I always thought he was very good albeit able to play a few different positions but never as game changing as Franklin could be.

Better highlights and a longer career but less's influence on games. But as a defender I wouldn't want my face in a goal of the year highlight which will be replayed forever

I'm going to use this to pump up Stephen Michael again because people who didn't see him play dismiss him.

As great as Maurice was, when he played for Souths there was no question that Michael was the best player in the team.

I’d put Matera in the same bracket. He was unbelievable. 5 x AA. And who kicks 5 goals off the wing in a grand final, seriously.

2020-present - 1. Franklin, 2. Goodes, 3. McLeod

Pre 2005 Buddy hadn't played a game for Hawthorn, so no idea how you could rank him ahead of Goodes, who had won a Brownlow in that period.
2020 - Present, only Buddy is still playing AFL, so it's pretty meaningless.

They are all champion players, who played different roles so it's hard to compare.

I would rank them - Buddy, McLeod, Goodes - but it could easily be in any other order.

I'm biased of course but Maurice is the best I've seen, in fact one of the best players indeginous or not but most that saw him play say Polly is the best.

Buddy stands comfortably amongst the top few, 1000 goals in the modern era is mind boggling.
