He'll get better as the season goes on.

I'm tipping an average of just under 10 points and 5 boards, between 1&2 blocks.

Not only did he get off a plane in the last 3 days, everything about his new team and the competition will be unfamiliar, never mind the lifestyle.

Once he understands the capabilities of the opposition and his teammates, and gets used to playing a decent 7 footer every other night whilst learning the team plan, his talent will shine through.

Yao isnt your typical banging big man. Some even say he plays like a 7'5 SF, he prefers to hit jump shots, rather than posting up and using some muscle.

He will be a liability this year if he starts for the rockets, I cant see him getting decent numbers for another 2 seasons.

Can't be more of a liability than Cato is...can he? :p

he can bang... just ask b.wallace/a.davis/j'o'neal who attempted to gang up on him at the worlds... :P

yes, he probably prefers hitting jump shots... but his jump shot is damn good.. as is his free throw shooting...

he's only 21... lacking some muscle... but, he's already the second heaviest player in the league behind shaq...

projected numbers... with a team with franchise/cat/mo... 10pts, 8rb, 2bl is decent..

but, according to you.. he'll be absolutely schooled in his rookie season, based on 13mins played in his first preseason game off the plane with a completely different system, with teammates he just met after 1 practice session..

He only could blocked Davis, the other 2 or 3 blocks of his was on the College guy that was on Team Usa's roster. (That was in the exhibition match).

Yao is soft, and will learn how to play like the bangers in the NBA to have any success.

I cant wait to see a 6 footer dunk in his face.

u didnt read the game report on the world championship game?

thats 3 quality nba bigmen (including the defensive player of the year) targetting yao with special treatment... 3 vs yao & no-name hacks...

but then again, most of the no-name hacks had their way with the team USA bigmen... :p

No all the hype about this huge 7'6 coming into the NBA.. all the hype during pre and post draft.

He is the biggest man in the NBA now, and I know that a few teams have taken bets whos gonna be the first man to dunk on Big Yao. Apparently at Clipper Land, they think it could be Maggette...

Apparently Sean Chen (Taiwanese player on Kings preseason roster) dunked on Yao Ming back in Asia, and the Video is available on numerous sites.

Sean Chen... turnover king

Kemp actually looks like he might be kind of handy for the Magic?? Maybe....

As for Ming....should be ok, just the sheer size of him will be enough to hold his own against most guys. He held his own at the Worlds against J.O'Neal, Davis and Wallace...so I think he will do better than you think.
