..But in saying all that... at least in our past 6 pathetic years when we've played a close to full strength team in the pre-season cup we've done alright!

Yeah that's the point. They put in their very best team. ALL their senior players played. The outcome was a disaster. They should have just rested 5-6 of the oldies and played younger players instead. AT least they would have got some valuable game time. I suspect the reason Terry didn't do this, is that he was concerned a 150 point blowout could happen. :)

So I guess that means they will be forced to fast track the developement of the youngsters when the oldies retire thus creating the likelyhood of blowouts in the regular season over the next couple of years . Again , bad list management by the tigers . Better to get smashed in the nab cup playing kids than in the premiership race .

It's a bit of a Catch-22 i.e play all the oldies and restrict the losses to under 50 points, or play the young players as an investment in the future, but cop some 150+ point thrashings. If they did the latter, despite the short-term humiliation, they'd find out which young players could make it, and which will never make it. Right now they have young players stagnating on that list that will never have the capability at AFL level, and oldies playing for the pay-cheque only. They need a strong leader at the Club to cleanout the deadwood and make some tough decisions. Booting Miller should be priority #1. :)

But Parrot , who would be their new messiah , 'hungry' KB perhaps ? I think they should get rid of wallet as well . Sheedy could probably take millers role and show him how it's done but i think he should leave coaching alone . Definately need a younger new age type coach down there , maybe some one like Chris Bond for example . Then where do you go with the recruiting dept, ? who takes responsibility there ? Some big changes needed at richmond , including a player cleanout as you suggested to find the players that really want to put in !
Their misery is our pleasure
