Who's your favourite role player?

Just wanted to create a discussion about players who aren't absolute stars of the game, the guys that just go in and play their role for the team.

I absolutely love the way Tom Papley goes about it. Skilful, hard little player that seems to pop up most weeks with a handy goal or two.

kamdyn mcintosh. Always goes in hard, great size, versatile and just runs all day every week.

In the past Cyril Rioli has played his role well for Hawthorn. Not putting up huge numbers but does some of the little things like forward pressure acts.

Can be entertaining at times as well. Has faded a little after Hawthorn moved down the ladder and some of their premiership superstars changed clubs or retired.

Mark Blicavs gets a different role every week, and it seriously messes with his personal continuity and form, but he always gets the job done alright. Played at full-back today after Taylor was injured and beat Hogan.

Somehow I don't think Cyril and Burgoyne are role players. Role players are usually never mentioned for starters.

I'll go Matt De Boer. A genuinely good bloke and he'd be the only reason a GWS premiership wouldn't make me vomit.

Ryan Lester. Opposition supporters probably wont think he is any good but he is a fantastic leader and understands the game more than most. Plays all over the park weekly.

Goes to the oppositions best rebound defenders, limits their impact and is averaging more than 3 goals per game since adapting to the role.

Liam Picken does a great job for us wherever he is played. Played all 3 parts of the ground over his career and nearly always does a reliable job.

Easily our best role player. Can tag in the middle, can play shutdown defender or play as a marking option up forward.

I was surprised to see that Edwards is one of only three Richmond players ranked as 'elite' for his position by Champion Data.

I’m a big Richard Douglas fan. Solid, reliable b-grader that’s performed well in the middle and up forward. Has a B&F in a s**t year for the club to show for it, which is a testament to his consistency.

Just performs to his role at the best of his ability week in week out
