Very disappointing if it's true some Blues fans attacked a someone in front of their kids on Thursday night. I was with my young kids and had a great time and was just thinking how good it was that everyone can walk out the second the siren sounds and feel safe. No doubt booze was involved, but if found should be banned.

so sad if true :(
i was at a game last year at docklands, and was in the captains club area next to the cheer squad, anyway this guy and his young kids had sat in the cheer squad area as there were no seats left in the captains club area, a cheer squad member approached the man, and told him in no uncertain circumstances to "GET THE **** OUT", when i saw this i was furious but didnt get involved as it didnt concern me, but i remember thinking to myself, was that really called for mate seriously, now the kids would have been no older than 8, and the verbual abuse that came from this cheer squade member was just crazy, where maybe just a polite, sorry mate you cant sit here its reserved for cheer squad members only was the appropriate action to take? who knows, maybe the guy may have signed up then and there to become a cheer squad member for his kids, i guess we will never know.

These are not supporters of Carlton.

These are the scum of society who unfortunately decide that they will cheer for the Carlton Football Club.

Some people are simply filth. It does not matter what team they are going for or what sport they are attending.

Someone who 'supports' a club is someone who only has the clubs best interest in mind. I get to around 4-5 games a season. There is a very big difference between 'hating' a team and needing to turn your hatred towards that teams supporters.

I have had both positive and negative experiences at the MCG staff. One in which we had to argue with two seating/security officials for most of the first quarter to get them to move people from our seats.... (8 in a row, in the rafters, sell out game) and each security person kept sending us to someone else. It was pretty well an 'it's all too hard' attitude.

I have also seen several incidents when a group of people are getting too loud, annoying too many people etc. Security will come up and speak to them. For some of them this is all that is required. For others this behaviour continues, and most of the time not long after this some, or all of the group are removed.

Carlton - as should any other Club that is unfortunate enough to be placed into a situation like this should come out and make a press conference requesting the individuals involved do not attend any more Carlton events and that we have no interest in being associated with individuals such at them.

Yeah it's disappointing, made me cringe when I heard the news. The reality is though that every supporter group has these moronic, so called "supporters". They shouldn't be allowed at the football

Most of the supporters around me - sitting near the Carlton cheer squad, both Richmond and Carlton supporters - were good. A couple of Richmond ferals were about to start fighting near that guy playing the bongos outside Richmond station before their mates intervened.

This is absolutely disgusting. I hope these cowards get caught, they deserve jail time for punching a woman. They should be banned by the AFL and Carlton from anything and everything. This type of scum needs to be put down like a rabid dog.

I can only imagine how horrible it would have been to be in that situation, its very disturbing and upsetting. Sadly, it is unlikely they will get caught.

They shouldn't give us all a bad name. Most of these types, we wouldn't associate with just because they cheer for the same team. We all have them though, and that is not diminishing the issue and not condoning their behaviour.

If they catch them and it went down the way the witness said it did, the club and the AFL should come together and do something about it. Sounds like reserved seating so they may be able to find who purchased the tickets and track the others through there. Will need the police to do the leg work though.

As far as cheer squad members that tell supporters to **** off. No sorry, these guys represent our club at games. There are some over the top types in the squad that goes to the Gabba games. I think it is time for the club to do a review of their cheer squad. Pretty sure Collingwood have done that in recent years.

When people act like idiots, mainly the ones that resort to assault, should have their memberships cancelled and be banned from attending games for a minimum of 3 seasons so they can get their shit together. It disgusts me. All clubs have these fans, it certainly isn't a Carlton problem, it's an AFL problem.

Anyone notice half an entire section on the lower level a few bays to the north of the tigers cheer squad get kicked out in the 3rd or 4th qtr? Any idea what happened?

It boggles the mind that people can be so mindless, inconsiderate and just plain dumb, especially in what's meant to be a family-friendly environment.

It has already been said, but there are moron supporters of every club and then the entire group gets judged. It is ironic, because 99% of a clubs supporters would not associate with the ferals that do rubbish like this, but there is a habit of bonding all groups that support a club together... The irony is within your group of friends and colleagues... unless you are in a 1-2 team town, chances are that many different football groups are represented.

We are just as guilty of it, how many times have we as a group lumped all Richmond supporters in with those that rip up memberships, spit at the coach or dump manure at the club? Yet of course most are not like that. What about Collingwood supporters, I remember Tim Watson talking about a shower of spit as a player was carried off injured... Surely this doesn't represent the majority of pies supporters either.

Passion is a great thing, banter is a great thing. Physical violence over a game of football and especially now with all the woman and children at the football is reprehensible and the AFL needs to get really tough with life bans for these thugs and the police need to press charges.

Disgusting.

Agree with all the sentiments here.

It's not part of our culture and is reprehensible behaviour, but it must not be swept under the carpet.

Find out their names, and ban their memberships, if they have them.

These are the times when the club needs to make a statement.

Two of our male supporters sitting next to me. Straight after the Yazz goal, hugging, high-fiving, groping and generally showing signs of unrestrained affection for each other and any other Carlton supporters nearby. Sure it was an arousing piece of play but these two needed a canopy.

The membership jibe at the Tiges is largely used with tongue firmly in cheek. A whole supporter base being thought of as aggressive, feral bogans is different again. We know that the Tigers are doing very well membership wise and have a solid core of supporters.

Can't stand agro idiots at the best of times, especially when they associate themselves with the footy club. Usually the same people that sink the boots into the club when we're struggling only to become unbearably smug once things turn our way.

As for the cheer squad reacting as they did, unacceptable. No doubt there's a few unsavoury types amongst them but there's the few who go way over the top.

No matter where you sit at the footy, there's always a moron within earshot, and it's far and away more prevalent in club members areas. I've had a reserved seat for 3 years which I refuse to sit in.

Groups together, whose football knowledge is non-existant, sprouting expletive-laden insults from start to finish at both Carlton players and the opposition, all the while surrounded by women and kids. It really is a disgrace. People seem to lose comprehension of the fact that they're in a public place. Pigs.
