Obviously not an ideal start, but things ain’t that gloomy. For various reasons (injuries, suspensions) our young side hasn’t had a chance to settle. We’ve been very competitive in every game, and with a bit of luck could have won one or two more. Kicking in front of goals let us down again on Saturday, as it did against Port and the Pies. Something we need to work on. The next 2 games will be a good opportunity for us to run into a bit of form, and get some stability in our side. :)

I agree wholeheartedly. Finishing has cost us badly but when you think we've drawn with Port and should've beaten Freo, we're really not travelling that badly.

Given time, Pagan will sort those issues out. Not having Livo and Thornton in the same team since the 2nd quarter of round 1.

All isn't lost, with luck we could be 3-2 and this conversation wouldn't be occurring.

I have no doubt we will get on a roll soon. Carlton are seriously underated. We've been losing these games by 20 points, 20 points, 0 points, and 19 points. Everyone of those games we've had our chances but have been wasteful. That won't continue! The last two games we've been doing all the right things as far as accountability goes, but our kicking has let us down. We will break through, and in the process we'll hammer teams on the way, I have no doubt! I'm estonished that people can say we're as bad as the last couple of years. We are a thousand times more competitive and guess what.......we're the youngest team in the league!!

Parrot has every right to label us as the 'young talented blues'. How many other teams have to rebuild every position purely on young talent? That's what we've done at Carlton and IMO, you won't find another team with more X-factor in their stocks.

Tend to agree with all of the posts. One other point i'd like to add is this:

Not taking anything away from Fevola, because as we know, when he is on he is a matchwinner. However, we have become a bit 1 dimensional and predictable when we go into the forward 50, as 9 out of 10 times we go for Fevola. With him being almost surely suspened for a few weeks, we can look at restructuring our forward 50 and being less predictable.

I would go for something like this:

HF: Waite Whitnall Scotland
FF: Longmuir De Luca Betts/Davies

everyone is quick to bag fevola when he doesnt do to much in a game.
1. its very hard when teams flood for any forward to have an impact
2. since the wizard cup our passing into the forward line has been terrible

give the guy an inch and he takes it 9 time out of 10 ...give him little and he is still expected to kick 5..lloyd was star when he had smoken joe, mercs hitting him lace out...you watch lloyd this year with a crap midfield

should have beaten collingwood & port adelaide, had our chance against freo in the 3rd term to get right back into a 50/50 game

ROBERT WALLS should keep his mouth shut  as well

:D What's Fisher injured with now?

ACL if I remember right. Given that we keep telling the league hes 6-8 weeks away that would qualify as a LTI. If he needs to come back sooner Im sure someone like Clarke could suddenly develop OP.

Fev gets heaps of chances, just slips through his hands or he over runs the ball. Then he cracks them.

slips through his hands? really, are we watching the same player

over runs the ball? again really, stevens hits him 9 out of 10 times cause he knows you have to drop the ball in front of the leading player.. any leading forward should be able to chest mark the ball if kicked correctly
