Why are men so much more promiscuous than women?

Yeah I'd say there are more sexually active women than men. A small percentage of men would have many more partners and many having zero.

Again, this is based in biology but as I alluded to before and others have mentioned humans have started to transcend this. And it's a generalisation, but, well, generalisations tend to be true in a general sense.
In human geology , their are 2 mothers to 1 father.

Culture would be a main factor in my opinion. Woman who sleep around are not respected by a lot of people both men and women . However some men (especially younger) can wear it as a badge of honor as the average bloke would struggle more than the average chick to find a root

Also, men are more likely to cum from a one nighter making it more appealing

Some people prioritise pleasure over risks to their safety, others prioritise their safety over potential pleasure. If more women fall into the latter category, I wonder if it's partly because safety is a far bigger issue for women. Plus, testosterone has certainly been linked to risk-taking behaviours unrelated to sex.

I've been to a private all girls party. Also looking into a male/female party... and i would like to be married one day- in an open marriage.

Yeah, sure, some women are monogamous to the one man their whole life. Good for them.

fu** that from my POV. As long as its all open, honest, consensual + safe- I would not want to be "stuck with" the one man my entire life. And obviously vice versa would apply for him.
Few things please me more than seeing my wife explore her sexuality with others. I'm of the view that monogamy is an unnatural social constraint.

I don't think they are at all. I think men are just more open talking about it. I don't know a single guy who has even hit close to the numbers that almost every woman I know has. Yet I can't get a root to save myself. Go figure.

Because humans are not living the way they are biologically wired.

Some animals are strictly monogamous, such as geese, swans and foxes, which pair for life. Others are not, for example one ewe and one ram don't pair for life in the sheep world, and chickens don't see one hen and one rooster breeding exclusively.

Humans are primates, and with the exception of orangutans which are largely solitary, other primates such as chimpanzees, gorillas and baboons live in groups that are not monogamous. Homo Sapiens still have the same biological instincts as other primates, and really haven't evolved enough to be monogamous.

Gay men would be more promiscuous than gay women though.
I’ll take your word for it, because I’d think it’d be about the same as straight men & women....I think our human need to feel “wanted” goes above anything else, be it male or female.

I think promiscuity is probably higher to an extent, but mostly because if you're sexually liberated and open to having sex with anyone, you're more likely to not care about gender etc in a sexual partner. I think the median would probably be similar, but the extremes would be different (a deeply conservative, traditional "one partner for life" person is unlikely to be openly gay, and someone who sleeps with 1000+ people is unlikely to be very constrained when it comes to partners).

Can only speak for myself- but I have hired escorts in the past (men and women) so that is kind of a blanket statement right there.

Porn is also fantastic. Who doesnt like porn??

Some generalizations up in here, and I kinda fail to see the point of the question tbh.
Men and women? I got to say , I am in no way against the sexuality of anyone,
their preferences is theirs.
But I am so, NOT attracted to men, they are hairy ugly smelly and I guess that is how I perceive. and am confused at how any man can look at another man and are attracted to them in that way.

But that is probably why I could be a lesbian if I was a female which I aren't.

Women are much more attractive than men, so it just goes to show that people who follow their feeling of sexuality are never ever abnormal or wrong they are being what they are.
Now I can't equate that to trans people or cross dressing people because I think that that is different. And I don't know.

But I do think homosexuality is born with the person. And a gay man looks at men as a straight women would do, and visa versa. just a thought?

Although for some women, I think the way some males act and behave, it can make some women take the softer option with another woman, even though they are not exactly totally Lesbian! If at all.

Shows to me that difference, that males with males really must be convinced from very early and should not be condemned for how they feel.

Me I think most blokes are not to my liking, and giving a bloke a big smooch , well, vomit worthy, I love women but I was born that way!

This. In Australian culture there is a massive residual double standard hanging over sexual relations.

A man who roots around is a STUD, which is a positive-themed honorific.

A woman who roots around is a SLUT, which is a negative-themed perjorative.

This may be a holdover from early Christian times when they felt they had to demonise competing religious viewpoints like fertility cults and the like. Fornification for pleasure was denounced, only procreation was blessed. Funnily enough, the sexual honors the male enjoyed kept the phallic undertones of fertility worship alive well into the modern age.

As a man, I think it's high time women were able to reclaim SLUT as a positive honorific.

NOTE: Mods, I only use the word slut in an educative way and not as a term of abuse. I realise I have sidestepped the swear filter, but believe I have done so for the right reasons.

But they are trying. Hahahahahaha both sexes, and some do fall in love while others fall in lust.

I'll let you know what I think when I'm off my manic depressive meds and I have a manic episode and become the horniest woman alive.

I love sex and when I was younger sleeping with different men taught me a lot about myself and how I like to be treated in sexual situations but now I have my boyfriend who I love dearly and couldn't imagine sleeping with anyone but him. He satisfies me both physically and emotionally and that's a nice feeling to have.

But back to the question, less repercussions on men sleeping around than women.

I’m a 25yo straight man and distance myself from all human beings by choice to protect myself. No one is worth the energy and ya I know that my generation is very emotionally damaged.

Sure a root feels great but I prefer not to seek it out whatsoever unless there’s an emotional attachment first. One red flag and you’re cut off type stuff.

How is your generation emotionally damaged?
