According to you there is nothing wrong with list management and recruitment at Collingwood.According to the OP they were going to delist him.
I agree that we should have made a serious play for Schache. We could have swapped draft picks, negotiated harder and more persuasively, or offered up a few players for trade. Anything other than create controversy yet again over our trading ability.COLLINGWOOD: B-
GAINED: Sam Murray
LOST: Nil
DRAFT PICKS: 6, 38, 56, 61, 70, 80, 98
The Pies didn’t make many waves at all this trade period, but in saying that, they didn’t pull another Chris Mayne, so I guess this should be considered a win in comparison. The only shake they made was trading for Sam Murray, a rookie-listed Sydney defender with a raking left foot. With late picks shuffled and it all getting a bit murky, Collingwood essentially parted ways with a future second-round pick. Personally, I think that is a hell of a lot for an untried kid, but those in the know believe you won’t find a kid like him around that pick this year. The jury’s still out for me and I would have seriously liked Collingwood to address their forward line issues with Josh Schache. It is pretty evident the Pies are putting together a war chest for Gold Coast’s Tom Lynch next year… good luck to them.

Yes, please!!My take on the title of this thread is that it is completely out of line and ignores the known fact that as far as list management goes, Hine already got the sack. Having said that, Hine is not the only person suggesting that the for the price paid there is no other kid of equal ability available. I still say our biggest need is to trade out some hack supporters.
Ha ha. Well I said supporters but I guess I should qualify that there was a fair amount of license taken in using that word.Yes, please!!
I've never heard Hine speak like that. Sounds like a guy who is under pressure.
Like most
He's sick of all the uninformed yoyos who have no idea, but are happy to shoot off suppositions without facts, knowledge of future plans and cap space and act like sheep following Known biased opinion of MSM
I like your loyalty pie n sauce but it is misplaced here. We massively overpaid for this trade plain and simple. Sydney will be laughing their heads of that they managed to bring a second round pick into it, regardless of any swaps behind that.
Saad and Wilson traded for second rounds, both of whom are in top 10 running backs in AFL comp. ( they both have superior output to our targets output in the neafl)we pay that price and get a maiden rookie.!
But draft position = points. Then got extra points for Tyler this year and seeing we have 2 academy and a f/ s next year draft position is irrelevant
I reckon the criticism is justified. Hine's explanation was weak when you look at the details. We overpaid and weakened our position in next years draft, including our ability to get father sons or academy players. That's not to say we won't get that value you back because i'm bullish on Murray, but I reckon we could have gotten him cheaper than we did. I think that and don't consider myself a sheep.
But draft position = points.
No he's DENIAL was factual and accurate
I admit I didn't fully know the rules re rookies ect,but I rekin both
Harley and Derek would! both explained it
We are for example into 3 academy type selections and we get discounts for same
We know now who we want
Very true nice observation
We have though 18 to 20 players coming out of contract next year with only 2 retirements maybe
Heaps of middle to low choices coming our way via trades as these players hold value in the market place
Already we have a first 2 thirds ,1 fourth ect ,my point and dekas is we get a discount on the players we are going to draft ,who like all clubs are aware are quality and getting drafted by us
2 of these will recieve other offers
SAMs a good trade that got a needed type player at low cap impact today
Tommorrow
If he goes all right it's a great trade , if we finish above Sydney it's huge
And will cost less
Who knows he could help
I'd be questioning the relationship there good Sir.It's like my wife buying an Astra for $100,000 and giving me a pie as change.

Are you saying you were wrong?According to you there is nothing wrong with list management and recruitment at Collingwood.

I was wrong in that I thought he'd be delisted, I didn't realise you could maintain rookies. Its still a monumentally dumb trade, the fact he would have stayed a rookie just reinforces that. Are you saying you were wrong?
Thanks for confirming you were wrong. I wasn't sure.I was wrong in that I thought he'd be delisted, I didn't realise you could maintain rookies. Its still a monumentally dumb trade, the fact he would have stayed a rookie just reinforces that.
Unlike you Jmac, I'd rather be slightly wrong asking questions of the club than repeat the side by side mantra every time they do something stupid.

Don't use factual evidence to show people why Hine is wrong, just tow the company line and never question. Side by side or you're not a real supporter.Read this: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/trade-f-a-2017-2018-refreshed.1180157/page-140#post-53166029
It illustrates why Hine's explanation is flawed.
Ah the 60 minutes approach. Good work company man. Never question. Thanks for confirming you were wrong. I wasn't sure.
Question by all means, but get your facts straight first.Ah the 60 minutes approach. Good work company man. Never question.

I don't read posts that long sorry. Why didn't you mention in your OP that Sydney included a third round pick in the trade?[/QUOTE]

Read this: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/trade-f-a-2017-2018-refreshed.1180157/page-140#post-53166029

It illustrates why Hine's explanation is flawed.
