I could never understand why they took it off...it was the only reason for having optus! Friday night footy live does not exist in brisbane.

Because it was losing money faster than even they could cope with is why it went.
Economic reality was it was losing MASSIVE amounts of money.
Wonder if foxtel will try a similar footy only channel or if they just will include it as part of the overall schedule?

it was due to kery stokes love child in c7 to be developed into THE no1 sports channel on pay tv.i admit sports afl was the ultimite for the footy junky however most of the shows from sports afl were still on c7 except for the sunday show.the important thing is c7 still showed all games during the week.
it will be interesting to see what foxtel does. id say maybe at the start they may have the one channel purely for afl or maybe a combination of afl and fugby.

Of the Foxtel Sports channels, Fox Sports 2 is only a part time channel (Fri - Mon). I would suggest that they would extend this channel and incorporate more coverage into other channels as they do with NRL and Fox8.

It's obvious that there are many more subcribers to Foxtel than Optus and it is no secret that they are in a muich healthier position than Optus are.
I'm just hoping that the change in providers does not adversely affect what is at the moment very good coverage.
Optus were able to dedicate a substantial amount of its time to their AFL coverage. Will Foxtel be able to do the same thing?
For Foxtel to now have exclusive pay-TV rights to the NRL, Super 12 and the AFL is quite staggering.
It's one thing to buy the rights with millions of dollars, it is another thing to provide a good service to their paying customers. Hopefully Foxtel will not consider their job complete after merely taking over the coverage from their rivals.
