Because he was unlikely to get regular games for us with a full strength midfield, Saints came knocking and he had an opportunity that was too good for him and the club.

Could we still use him? Yes.
Was it the right move at the time? Unfortunately, also yes.
Do I wish it wasn’t so? For sure.

Will always love Jacko - a Bull-god who got us into the ‘16 granny

After what Matt Kennedy did last night on half the wage, no
Less than half this year and a couple years younger.
Macrae would have been handy whilst our midfield is so depleted but as soon as Treloar and Bont are back he will be back to a flank or VFL. Ontop of this we would more then likely not have seen Freijah move to the midfield.

he has been killing it at the saints

Anyone else annoyed?
No. It's fantastic to see him play so well, but his performances at the Saints in no way translate to our team composition, and his contract was costing us around 800k. Upsetting to lose a club stalwart but it was ultimately for the best, especially considering our acquisition of Kennedy.

No happy he left and is doing a superb job educating the youngsters as well as his on field role.
He will be loved by Me forever.

I was ok with him going but he is back to his best at the saints. With our injuries he would have been handy in this doggies team

I’ve never understood why there weren’t more clubs into Macrae. He was always going to dominate wherever he went. He has that inner steel and determination that only the stars have.

He’s a great player, he’s just not what we needed anymore.

We needed a depth midfielder who could go forward when needed. Jack Macrae isn’t great at going forward and deserved better than being depth.

he has been killing it at the saints

Yes he has.

I love the guy in a for the most part completely hetero way.

But he was surplus to requirements in a team who's midfield desperately needed a refresh.

This is paying dividends as we watch Richards take command of the middle of the ground. In the absence of the two big dogs. Its also allowed the likes of Freijah and Davidson and others to play extended minutes in roles that Macrae would've otherwise occupied.

The reality is that he is and always was a one pace one dimensional but very clever footballer who found himself 3rd or 4th in line for the only role he could play as a starting mid. We did the right thing by him by allowing without fuss to go to a team that fitted him perfectly and he has returned to being the footballer that we always knew he was.

Anyone else annoyed?
Nope. Not at all.

He was a great servant of the club and will always be a Bulldogs immortal.

Good on him I wish him all of the personal success he can get.

His new team. Not so much.

Got to get the mix right and the books to reflect it too.

Win win for all parties.

Jack gets looked after
Saints get a good player, without necessarily making them a greater risk to us.
We get a different look at it with Kennedy.
