The 50 metre penalty is a ridiculous concept, far too harsh for almost all infringements, but under the current rules it was there.

50 was there. Should be asking why one wasn't given against Thomas for punching the ball over the fence.
I thought Hunt touched it, and therefore thought it was play on. Still....50's like that are a blight on the game. Very poor decision.
Collingwood just had more resilience.

Silly question. Suppose Player X takes a mark and runs off - at that moment, a fly takes up residence in the Umpire's throat. The player could theoretically run 20-30 metres (bouncing the ball) without being tackled until the umpire clears his throat and calls Play On. Other umpires are too far away too make the call. Fun all round.

That was always going to be paid and has been that way since the 90s.
