Why do you go to the gym?

Gym work is as important as cardio.

Cardio is for the heart, gym for the muscles, sprint work for fast twitch, yoga for flexibility and soccer for the coordination, mental strategy and balance.

Being in my 40s I value these as I see how fast they go if you don't invest in them.

I'm all about the kettles.

Kettle chips I mean.

One day, a being will come to this planet from another world and challenge this planets finest warrior to single combat, to determine the fate of all humanity.

I must be ready to answer the call.

Would probably be about as successful as this guy was.

Billy was a fool. He was no match for the predator. Cutting his chest was like throwing chum in front of a 20ft great white. Even Arnold couldn't match the predator in the light of day, but he wasn't as dumb as Billy.

Poor Billy - you dumb ****.

I just love it. Love the progress, the strength gains, the change in body shape. Love filling out a t shirt but hate buying clothes. I have a a big chest and lats, but I wish I had more of that mass in my arms and traps. I am doing heaps of deads, shrugs, shoulder and arm work at the moment - slowly developing that bigger look in my arms and shoulders.

If I do any chest work I just explode, so laying off that totally.

100% vanity. When I first started it was because I didn't like my body. I also lived on campus for uni and there's nothing shallow party bishes loved more than abs lol.

Now I train because I want to look as best as my body will allow me. But honestly if I didn't care about muscles I'd never go to the gym & only play basketball!
I never lived on campus but agree re uni girls. They were shallow, and so easy in their first year. You look half decent and you'll sword them non stop. I realised I had to stop going to first year uni parties when I was about 29, then I progressed to first year grads at work - they were keener to impress ;)

I guess working out has really worked for me.

I'm also arthritic in L3-L4-L5-S1 and specialists have told me for the love of god, don't stop moving. I'm only 31 so I'm not ready to start the decline into decrepitude yet. Doesn't look like I'll ever make that 500 pound deadlift that I got with a hairs breadth of not that long ago, but with some rehab and core strengthening, who knows. Still cleaning and jerking 100kg+ comfortably.

That's still some impressive numbers. Huge in fact. You're obviously significantly stronger than most lifters even with that arthritis.
