I don't hate the team at all.

I hate the general West Coast supporter. Always thinking they are better for following a successful side and more than willing to but in and tell you how bad a club Fremantle is and just can't fathom how you could support a team who doesn't win all the time. They are the part of West Coast I hate.

Yes there are some good Eagles fans (even on here) but the majority are knobs.

Perhaps it's because 90% of the people in this state who say they are eagles supporter are actually clueless nuff nuffs who wouldn't know the difference between a drop punt and a shirtfront. Who couldn't name any eagles players besides Cousins, Judd and 'that little black guy with the long name'. But because these experts are eagles 'supporters' they feel qualified to pass their wisdom on to me about how Freo could improve to be more successful like the mighty eagles. Well I watch more games in one weekend than they do in a year and I don't need some part time hero who feels the need to attach themselves to a winning team to feel important condescendingly lecturing me on the faults of my club.

Perhaps that's it. I've never really thought about it before.

I agree whole heartedly with Esti on this one.
The thing is, we have bad experiences with the (many) w***er Weagles supporters and it kind of tarnishes anything to do with the WC brand.

The media plays a huge part in this, exactly what Esti said once again.

Maybe it was when I was a young tacker after the first Freo derby win and I was spat on and abused by a 40 something year old Eagles supporter.

That kind of reaction to a kid no older than 7 or 8 who did nothing but cheer for the team he chose to support kind of stinks really, when you think about it.

But then again, who does.

As a WCE supporter, as I have mentioned earlier, I like freo. It is the whole WA loyalty thing. Much of the talent is local. Is there ANY freo fans that have the WCE as their no.2 team, similar to myself with you guys? Why do you hate the WCE so much. Supporters aside (all clubs have bad supporters in the mix) what drives you nuts about us? I am genuinly curious because i like freo.

Back in the early days, it was Phil Read.

Of more recent times, it could be wearing the WA origin jersey when your players are running around disgracing themselves and as a result the state. It could be Chick lying to the tribunal about J.Carr, or it could be Selwood saying abusive things about Headland's daughter. Maybe the dozen ex-WC players whose biased opinions we have to put up with in the media at every turn. Could be for a number of reasons.

The only reason WC might have a problem with us, is that we palmed off Greg Harding and Trent Carroll to them. Oh and we booed Chris Judd, which they'll do next year anyway. Oh and Pav stayed might be a reason.

I love Freo, therefore I ... well not hate, bit strong, but certianly don't particularly care for any other team. However, there are scales and WC are certainly lower down on the rung for me for a number of reasons. Right up there for my reasoning is they are simply a club with no soul. They, very generally, have this nebulous and shallow legacy highlighted this year with the SofO jumper debate. They have no sense of culture (unless you call the appeal to the chardonnay drinking, clone housing development, 4wd car used exclusively for picking up the kids and doing shopping type a culture). Sure they are successful and, dare I say it, a model on how to do things on the field (do I need to stress on the field only?) to be a successful team, but beyond that they are empty. This is no reason to hate them, but it certainly makes it harder to love them too.

Perhaps what really riled me when it came to my loss of any latent love for the Eagles was in the early days of Freo. WC fans would mindlessly make these comparisons of how poor Freo were compared to the WC, particularly with all those derby losses, when the WC had a much smoother run into the AFL system and no rival in the local off or on-field market to speak of and were well and truly established as an AFL power.
This just created this association of stupid arrogance about WC that the club and good number of its fans have since never given good reason to change.

PS. I think very highly of many of their players, a now ex-player in particular.

Following what's happened recently, a lot of the Eagle "supporters" have had enough. Try following a team that was bottom 8 at best material for most of its existance with no premiership to gloat about...

Most talkback callers obviously have too much time on their hands so I really wouldnt take that as sensible opinions. But complaining about eagles fans moaning about some physical tactics from fremantle (which worked to good effect it has to be said), when your fellow freo posters have mentioned west coasts bully boy tactics in the early years of derbies seems a bit rich? Could just be me but reagardless of the opposition and any losses you move on after a day or two.

Why do I hate Worst Choke? Too many reasons to list, but I'll try and sum it up briefly.

Their supporters are bandwagon hopping morons. Whenever I have a football related discussion/argument/fight to the death with them, they only ever seem to talk about Freo's lack of success and how they couldn't possibly bring themselves to support a team who had an empty trophy cabinet. So I ask them, would you support the Egos if you weren't successful? I'm yet to get a comeback. They never have and never will understand that there's more to supporting a footy team than on-field success. Supporting Freo is a rollercoaster ride and I'm just stoked to be along for the ride. The dizzying highs would be no fun unless there were some frustrating lows along the way.

Another thing is that almost all Western Australians who are not footy followers as such and only associate themselves with a team for the associated status 'support' Wet Toast. Example: This year I was at a mate's house indulging in a few beverages while watching the footy (Booze Bus Benny's comeback game, ugh). There was one or two proper Egirls supporters there, along with five or six of the aforementioned Egirls 'associates' and myself as the sole purpleblood. At half time, the others got bored and decided to start attacking me about my undeniably good taste in football teams. One associate was getting pretty worked up and really having a go, I just sat there and waited until she'd finished her meaningless spray of incoherent sentence fragments and asked her "do you even know if you're winning at the moment?" She told me that she knew the Evils were losing. I asked the others to help her out. Not one of them knew that the score was all tied up. THAT'S why I hate Indian Pacific Ltd.
