What you're saying has nothing to do with my point. My point is that there have been many, many games in which Schache has given us absolutely nothing and our forward line was dysfunctional as result. To imply that our forward line has always been more effective with Shack in Attack is dishonest or delusional.

It's rare that I agree with someone who almost exclusively posts things s/he doesn't want people to agree with...

But yep.
Far too many groan moments historically.

Now, in the first couple of minutes last week, in a game that was going to be tough, against a sometimes nasty opponent, he led strongly and clunked a mark out in front in a situation where he absolutely had every right to expect contact from behind.
Two things stood out to me.
1) Brilliant! Loved it. Knew he was on and in for a solid game. It helps us immensely.
2) The fact that I'm even thinking that is a bit of a slight on him. AFL players should be doing that consistently and without specific praise.

So happy he backed it up last night.
The lead around Sicily will be highlighted all week, but there were some efforts in the ruck that were 👌

I'm happy we've persisted when really we've had every right and reason to cut the cord .

Shack of the last 2 weeks helps us immensely.
While he plays like that he's spot is not in doubt.

I don't think I'd call two games a consistent theme. I think you might be conveniently forgetting all of the games in which he has gone missing and left our forwardline completely dysfunctional. Great couple of weeks from Shack but let's not rewrite history. We've kicked big scores against two sides in the bottom half of the ladder. Lets see how we go against the serious teams.
You mean those games he’s asked to play 5 positions in a half because Bevo realises we went in a couple of talls short all over the ground?. Now not too many data points to validate conclusively but going by gut feel if he’s left up forward for extended periods our forward line functions better.

You mean those games he’s asked to play 5 positions in a half? Nah, the best our forward line looked last year was when he was playing forward. Same this year. Now not too many data points to validate conclusively but going by gut feel if he’s left up forward for extended periods our forward line functions better.

Now I’m not for a minute suggesting he didn’t deserve to play some games in the 2nds but the lack of continuity he had was simply poor management. Chopping and changing positions, teetering on the edge every game whereby you have a poor game you are out, needing to prove yourself in the 2nds again and again while Players like Rouke Smith gets opportunity after opportunity while racking in 7-10 possessions on the wing…being in that zone can really impact your confidence.

Schache was interviewed on ABC radio earlier today, but I missed it, only caught Ling and Ramanauskas talking about him. They agreed we are crying out for a KPD, and he should aim for that. Problem is his best footy is played as a roaming offensive player, like last night. Bit of KPF, bit of ruck, getting possession upheld and using his great kicking skills to hit targets.

I don't think he will ever become a genuine KPD. Which is a quandary when Bruce is back. Schache currently has more strings to his bow than JUH. So if Bevo retains the 3 tall forward structure, it will likely be Naughton, Bruce and 1 of Schache or JUH.

Bruce won't play back, JUH is too slight even if anyone considered it, Schache is better in last night's role, and Naughton could play back but given how critical he is forward for the entire team, it would be madness.

Alternatively, Schache and JUH swap between wing and forward, and create a nightmare matchup, like Cats did with Blicavs against us when he wasn't rucking? I'm not sure if that would work, and still leaves us exposed defensively.

I’ve liked the idea of Schach back at times, but I’m done with that - he’s a forward, the one part of his game that he actually excels in his forward smarts, he’s pretty limited athletically and in the contest but he can get by on forward smarts - taking this away from him means you’ve got a very very limited player with no real tools, except kicking but his kicking seems to be better in the forward half too

If he makes it it has to be this role, high roaming half forward - it’s his best role for both himself & us.

I don’t really want to add to the Schache pile on as I have called for him to get a run of games and liked his performances as second ruck previously. But I thought he was very poor in that role on Thursday night. Anyone else think that was his worst second ruck effort or just me?

Meh, standard Schache game. He was shite everywhere, not just 2nd ruck. He teases you with a good game, then reverts to the mean with the next. I guess this is why we’re into Lobb.

He has arguably shown his best signs as a key defender late last year. Not great one on one (none of our defenders are) but does read the play well. Still, pretty hard to keep supporting him based on Thursday night

It’s time to rip the band aid off and get rid of Schache he was horrible on Thursday night I can’t believe people actually thought he had turned a corner 🤮

Schache probably going to be saved in selection because we probably won't go with 2 rucks not to mention he's actually played his best footy in wet weather and the forecast in sydney this week is absolutely awful.

For every good game Schache plays, he then plays 2 bad games to see him dropped. He is not consistent and IMO is nowhere near best 22
