If he was enthusiastic about things besides the inane I wouldn't mind him. However he latches onto things like ump decisions, interchanges, injuries and craps all over what is actually happening on ball.

He's best when he's calling play by play but he often can't keep up with players names or getting distracted.

This is also something I don't understand. He is excited when commentating for both teams playing, unlike some others who seem jolly when one team is on a roll and flat when their opposition kicks a few goals in a row.

Also, he really gets you off your seat when a team is in their forward 50 and is trying to kick a goal

BT is good but he needs a better supporting cast on CH7, he is usually surrounded by special comments people, which can be quite boring.

I'd have BT, Tony Leonard, Tim Lane, Dennis Commetti and Bruce or Jason Dunstall on the same desk and that would be very cool, but BT on his own probably needs another Live caller to assist.

You have to get the right synthesis and 3aw usually has the best.

Triple M with Dermie, Ed and James can be quite good as well.

Commentators work best in small bites, which is why the big 3aw teams work well. They get subbed in and out.

If you need the commentators to tell you whats happening you must be blind. I can see that old mate has just kicked it out on the full. What I do need is someone funny and gives good banter. That's why BT for footy and Brayshaw for the cricket!!

America's cultural imperialism has warped Australian values. Used to have a laugh and take most things as a joke and now it's all 'no dude, you have to take football commentating very seriously'. Unfortunately for BT he is an old 'dinosaur' who isn't relevant anymore in modern Australia. On the plus side he makes a shitton of cash while enraging a lot of nuff nuffs.

Barracking is unacceptable. I don't care what directive you get from Channel Septic to keep people from switching off - you can talk about the possibility of a comeback without barracking. BT is by no means the worst offender for this, but he certainly did so last night. When a Collingwood player was lining up for a set shot during the fourth quarter he actually said 'And we're behind you enjoying the ride!' No you are not. You are paid to sit there and call the play, putting your own preferences aside.

Plus he has an annoying voice. That's not his fault of course, but it's my opinion. I like enthusiasm from commentators, but BT's brand of enthusiasm is too much. I say, do what has been suggested on Bigfooty recently and turn up the crowd effects mic. Get the enthusiasm from the crowd and employ commentators who accurately call the play.
