Why doesnt Geelong play finals at GMHBA Stadium?

14/5 = 2.8 so Collingwood play 2.8x and they are by far the outlier. Hawks 10/5 = 2x, Dogs 2/5 = 0.4x

and compare those with the 60s where that number is more like 12/2 = 6x. when the cities were further apart.
Obviously it depends on whether you're playing an MCG tenant or not. In the 60s, there were only two clubs that called the G home, not six.

You'd get more sympathy if you didn't have a winning record over Collingwood in the past 20 years, and a 5-2 finals record in that time.
Yeah, agreed - and that goes for winning in general. Nobody called Kardinia a 'cheat ground' till we started winning lots.

GWS doesn't consistenly sellout their 22k stadium for finals, If they were the AFL would absolutely think about moving their game to SCG or reviving Stadium Australia. I imagine Gold Coast is going to struggle in the same way.
The 2016 Preliminary Final was a complete joke IMO - thousands of Dogs fans locked out of watching their first winning Prelim since 1961.

wrong. any final here will sell out 100%
My point is there's not going to be 5-10k fans that are missing out by the game not being at the Gabba.

Such a time existed? Richmond have more premierships than wins at Kardinia Park in the last 50 years.

There were plenty of seats available for Bulldogs fans that weren't members. Took at least a day to sell those tickets as well. No one desperate to go missed out.

That is why it is more neutral now, more clubs are familiar with the G now then back in the 1960s when it was clearly two teams home ground.

The MCG is now just a stadium that the AFL prefers to scheduled big BLOCKBUSTERs that they hope will get 60k+ crowds.

It only really started being called a "cheat" ground after all the other suburban grounds were removed.

Pies had our own cheat ground, Vic Park
Dogs has their own, Western Oval
Blues had Princes Park
Dons had Windy Hill

They were true home grounds.

??
The 2016 PF didn't even get as big a crowd as GWS v Sydney H&A games.

There wasn't thousands of fans locked out at all

The AFL has scheduled finals at Aussie Stadium, but the GWS v Dogs prelim didn't require a move.
