Opinion Why every club deserve a priority pick

Wait, St Kilda want a priority pick?!

If everyone is getting one - We sacked a coach first, sign us up for 2 of the priority picks please.

We've had a host of early retirements in the past 12 months (Boyd, Picken, Biggs, Redpath) and our side is only marginally older than the team that runs out for the Suns each week.

We''l just keep our access to Ewan McPherson and Jamarra Ugle-Hagen next year, thanks.

  1. WE lost the best player in the comp - Brownlow Medallist Patrick Dangerfield
  2. Kurt Tippett - Lost 2 x 1st and 2 x 2nd rd draft picks
  3. Had Steven Trigg as CEO, then allowed him to take his 6m off while he was suspended, held his position and then reappointed him only for him to leave a few months later
  4. We were penalised for Melbourne (not) tanking by having Dean Bailey (senior assistant) suspended for 6 months
  5. Dean Bailey passed away
  6. Phil Walsh passed away
  7. Gold Coast camp and Collective Mind(less)
  8. We have Brett Burton as the head of footy
  9. We can't get rid of Scott Camporeale regardless of how many open coaching jobs are out there
  10. We had 10 hamstring injuries last year - thanks Brett
  11. We had to play an away grand final even though we finished the year on top of the ladder
  12. Jake Lever left
  13. Charlie Cameron left
  14. Mitch McGovern left
  15. Did I mention Dangerfield left?
  16. We are the only club to have 2 players taken by GC and GWS startups (Bock and Davis)
  17. We didn't get Bryce Gibbs under the F/S rule even though his Dad played 350 games for one our allocated clubs
  18. We haven't won a flag for more than 20 years
  19. Phil Champan has been our president since we won a flag
  20. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A TOP 5 PICK - EVER

Well you did actually. Sadly you used it on a 30 something Wayne Carey instead of an 18 year old Carey.

Well if that's the only hole in my argument it must be pretty strong!

I'll change it to top 3 just for you (noting we traded pick 4, then Carlton's brown paper bag sponsorship from Visy was discovered and it became pick 2 which we wouldn't have traded....would we?)
 
It's not the injuries, its the consequences we're facing of the injuries.

Roberton - Heart issues for the past two seasons, gone.

McCartin - Concussions, gone.

Longer - Concussions, unsure.

Pierce - Concussion, Unsure.

Steven - Mental health, unsure.

It's obviously clear that its not confirmed if these guys will return or not but you're removing a #1, AA quality defender, clubs best midfielder from an inexperienced line up.

I'd like a priority pick, purely for list management purposes not on ladder or wins/loss or form.

It can be end of of first or second.

We desrve a priority pick because its self explainatory.




In 2017 Richmond did not even win a premiership, it simply got off life support from years of hell!!

Because only now we can do something with the priority picks when we get them as only now we are off life support, we need to get all the picks we are owed for the years of getting shafted without compo retrospectively.

So we need to take the first 10 draft picks in this draft to help alleviate the pain!!!!

We’ve got the worst coach in the league.

And we haven’t had a priority pick for nearly a decade.

Pick please.
