Why Hill, why?

this is almost the hardest decision ive ever had to make in DT! to trade or not to trade. i was going to, but a couple of posts have made me rethink. the thing im most worried about is if Hill really does have another stinker, will Harvey STILL back him in?

the other point to consider is the conflicting views over cheney's spot in the demons team. some people say he'll stay long enough to be a decent cash cow whilst some say he's not in the best 22? aren't there enough injuries to help him keep his spot? what if the bad game he played last week (didn't watch) was a one-off (albeit unlikely)?

From the Melbourne boards and from what I have seen live I would think Cheney has at least 2-3 games left in him which should get him approx 100K price rise. Who knows what the future holds. If he plays like rouond one this week he is a cert for 4-5 if like round 2 it depends on the coach but he needs to play youth and cheney has shown potential so you would assume he would give him a go. people need to understand that while Cheney did not play a blinder last week the whole Melb side was pretty weak after 1/2 time and players like Jetta and Bennel were far worse.

It's just an opinion but I have faith in Cheney to at least get close to 200K maybe more

Keeping him for now, no one to trade him to anyway.
Cheney and Rance both named on extended benches so it's not like they are guaranteed to be in their team's 22.

If anything I'll give Hill a couple of weeks, if he's still rubbish or dropped and Broughton plays well for those two weeks then it would be a likely trade.

I need money to upgrade Anthony to Raines. My options are Hentschel, Ottens, Raines or Hill. Want to keep Ottens and Raines, because both are relatively short term injuries, one is a keeper and the other will likely average 70+.

That leaves Hill and Hentschel. Reading this thread, I've probably been swayed towards trading Hentschel. He is out for a while and Gartlett looks a decent prospect - filling a hole in the 22 and while I think he needs a spell, he's named on the field so you'd think he would be safe for a few weeks yet. Has a low breakeven and showed very good scoring potential in the NAB. If he keeps his spot, he should make $200k fairly easy.

Considered trading him, but decided to keep him.

I've got question marks over all of Cheney, Rance and Petrenko, so I didn't see the worth in gaining only 50k for a player who may or may not be playing this week, let alone next week. What happens if you pick the wrong one, they get dropped next week and only make you 50k?

I have Hill as an emergency with Broughton on the field while Raines occupies the other bench spot. Obviously you have to assess each case on its merits, but for me the decision to keep Hill was the only reasonable decision to make.

Im one of the lucky ones (so to speak) who have Hill in the mids. Need to see what Zaha produces this week, but unless Hill plays an absolute blinder, I will be trading him to Zaha/Beams. Im going to be carrying a few injured players (Hurley, Hentschel and Anthony) so I need a good cash cow.

Firstly I am glad the mods did not delete this thread and after the initial arguments about the threads worth there has been some good discussion.

Fair call Fred, the reason this was left open and not merged is the exact reason Raines and Anthony were Rd 1. Each week there will be a couple of players / topics of interest that create enough interest to warrant their own thread. This week we let run Hill and Harding given the number of coaches with an interest. Quality of discussion and level of posting in each has been solid. In ,most cases this would be the exception or the board front page will have 20 threads of individual players but happy to let a couple run each week.

Showed what he was capable of in the second half today but i traded him. had the opportunity to jump onto houlihan so took it. Both will go up but houlihan will score more consistently for me

I was very happy with how he proved his doubters wrong today.

Gave me a little hope that he could turn out alright. Those who traded him out may regret their decision in weeks to come.

Was always going to get somewhere near his breakeven price so I felt it was an easy decision to keep him. Happy with his game (for Freo supporters.. they need some luck with draft picks finally) and very happy with the decision to keep him on my list now!!

Hopefully the little bugger can take some confidence out of today. Trades are going to be important at the end of this year and I'm glad I didn't waste one this week.

Don't know why people jumped off him when there were so many other injured players etc. to worry about, you do not dump a scoring (albeit low) and playing rookie, give them time. TRADES ARE PRECIOUS PEOPLE!

bugger, kept him in the squad but moved him out of the team and then he puts in a performance like today.

Was never going to waste a trade on a playing rookie and really happy he got a decent score.

Only downside was that I moved him to the bench and played Cheney and Petrenko who scored lower but I can live with that.

Hopefully he can back it up next week (providing he's picked).

Benched him in favour of Broughton. Can't complain at all.
