Why Hill, why?

Everyone is asking "should I trade Hill out" "who should I trade him for" etc. But are we being too hasty? Why is Hill scoring so bad? His NAB was amazing. Less TOG, bad positioning or is he choking and just shouldn't be in the 1's.

What are some reasons for Hill's bad form and if picked, could he turn it around and pull out a 70 this week?

I'm keeping him. If he pulls out yet another poor score, I'll have to reasses the Rance situation. I'll just start Broughton this week, it seems like he will get a game

Sucking up to the mods?

Those threads offer nonsense, useless advice. Hill is a major talking point who needs more in depth discussion.

A red card is a red card, it doesnt matter if your mates with the Mods (which I'm not, just for the record)

If every player with 30,000+ coaches made a new thread it would be a nightmare.

You thread does not (IMO) add anything to the discussion that could not be posted in an existing and appropriate thread.

My comments are not personal attacks, just my opinion, im sorry you disagree.

I think Hill is still a special case. No, my topic doesn't offer any new discussion, just some prompts to hopefully spur some new discussion.

Oh and it wouldn't be a mess. Ya search for ya player and there's a thread just for him.

Back on topic. I've had a snoop and he's getting a fair chunck of TOG. It has to be positon, role or confidence then. Can he overcome these things?

I'm not sure about Hill. I am seriously considering trading him for Cheney/Petrenko, but am not sure if the need is high enough. I have one starting rookie and one covering Raines in my backs out of the three of Rance, Suban and Hill.

Honestly I've asked for help in the trade thread and this question has been asked in the trade thread multiple times with no opinions given, so maybe its own thread will shed some light on what might be our best option.

It seems that the coaching staff have a lot of faith in him, hopefully they give him time on the ball/wing so he can see more of the prune.

A 70 would be great just to stop the rot.

I'm gonna ride the storm. He may not be the massive cash cow we all hoped he would be, but I reckon Fremantle are gonna play a lot of kids this year after turning over a lot of their list and he is the poster child first round pick and should get a lot of game time.

I'm expecting him to improve. He isn't getting a lot of help right now either with the way Fremantle are playing, but again I dont think this is going to be a permanent thing (fingers crossed).

This is the frame of mind everyone needs to be in.

It's stupid stressing over losing 10K because he will drop in value, he will come good..

I hate noobs!!!!!!!!!!

Those with Hill (including me) have paid 60k more than Cheney/Petrenko/Suban/Rance.

He is NOT a keeper, or a premium..... He is a cash cow, nothing more

The question is, Is Hill going to produce the cash to justify NOT trading him now?

The answer.....????????... IMO Yes. Trade him, I am.

The only problem I see with Hill is if you are hoping he will be a regular field player for your DT and not an occassional player/bench player. If you're expecting him to hold down and score 60+ a week with a weak bench, then maybe it would be wise to look to trade him? Not a great strategy IMO, but everyone plays it differently....

Sorry, you've confused me. You asked yourself a question and then got the answer wrong:confused:

I think the players have lost faith in him as well. Sometimes you need to give a kid a few cheapies to give him some confidence.

what do people think of trading hill for ryan houlihan?

i already have raines and hurley in backline and want to keep them as feel cash cows, but sick of hills low scores and houlihans price should rise....

Trade, trade, trade. Esp if you havent got Petrenko/Suban/Cheney. The hack is gonna lose cash this week! What a spud. Harvey will continue giving him games and he'll continue to score Prestigiacomo like scores for you. I rekon you get out while you can! If you think keeping onto him is worth it then why didnt you draft Presti or Zac Dawson? Both can do what Hill does and are guaranteed games.

Go take a look at Kade Simpson's stats for his first 3 or 4 games.

This seems encouraging:

"Right at the moment, we need our better players performing a lot better than what they are. Some of our younger players we’ve given opportunities to. This week I’ll be playing another first gamer or two. It’s not hard to read where we’re at. Grant should know better."
Subiaco defender Greg Broughton and Claremont midfielder Matt de Boer are tipped to join fellow first year players Stephen Hill and Nic Suban in the team to play Adelaide at Subiaco Oval on Sunday. Experienced defender Roger Hayden remains just a 50-50 chance to return from a hamstring injury.

Would be great if Hill, Suban and Broughton all play at once. Surely one of them has to score well... ?

i always thought Hill would come good in the later part of the season (being a lighter player). Cooney was like that in his first year. give him time.

Broughton (being a 22yr old) might have more of an impact early. i'm wondering if this is the new Valenti. we've all got our fingers crossed.
