In short, every colonist has been focused upon commercial gain in the Middle East.

Why aren’t the Americans interested in Korea or Vietnam anymore? No oil. No assets. No commercial benefit. The soviets were heavily involved with communist Vietnam and Korea, hence America continuing the Cold War against them.
I think you'll find that the Americans are still extremely interested in Vietnam and South Korea.
South Korea goes without saying considering the 38th Parallel.
Vietnam is hugely strategic for the South China Sea and American warships have begun visiting Da Nang in recent years.
Not everything is about oil.

Well in the case of inflaming a terrorist nest it is. America can lay the blame squarely on themselves for 9/11.

That’s not the point, the point is he was intelligent and would’ve been a pretty important ally had we kept to our patch. Because he sure as hell was going to. His mantra of no western influence would’ve served the republicans well, they could’ve reciprocated and kept the rednecks at bay.

However, the chief inspector of Ofsted, Amanda Spielman, supported the school, saying it was vital children knew about “families that have two mummies or two daddies”.

“Vital”

Tbh, good on the parents on taking a stand against progressive nonsense.
Yes, it’s vital to know about real people you will meet in your lifetime and not act like a shitbird towards them.

Education in western countries is increasingly dedicated to these so called vital skills, yet somehow education in said countries keeps underperforming.

What are schools for? To teach kids knowledge and skills or to act as a progressive parent?

Good on the actual real parents of these kids to reject this state enforced indoctrination.

Schools have never been solely about reading and arithmetic. It’s very much been about socialising, working with your peers, problem solving; it’s about preparing them for being an adult. When they get a job, they might have to work with (gasp) a homosexual. Kids in the past were taught to pretend they didn’t exist because society treated them that way. Not any more. Deal with it. The kids are, much better than some immature adults.

No, at school you learn much more than arithmetic, but sadly considering places likes Australia and the UK do so poorly at arithmetic in primary schools, maybe there should be a refocus on what matters.

Its OK you can do anything you like, and when you fail ( after getting good reviews by the teachers prior to the exams ) you can always go to TAFE.

Must indoctrinate them to think the right way.

I know kids who finished year 12 with spelling that my grandfather (who left school when he was aged 12) would have been embarrassed by. The state of arithmetic and basic maths for most people is parlous. It's an enormous disadvantage in life to have poor literacy and numeracy, and yet as a society we have let this fall by the wayside in the interests of nebulous education goals. Good on the parents of these children calling a stop to useless bullshit - sadly it is only those of Islamic faith who are permitted to get away with it.

My daughter finished and passed Yr 12 last year with enough to graduate into Psychology at a very good Uni, with spelling and numeracy that shocked me.
It's a bloody joke.

It's cool for old people to whinge about young people, but education standards in this country are hardly parlous. Maybe a few more people are falling through the gaps as we get bigger as a nation, but our exceptional students continue to excel, often above and beyond their predecessors. And the vast majority still graduate to the same standard as previous generations.

But she probably wrote a good essay ( excusing spelling mistakes ) Comparing "Game of THrones " to "Toy Story 2".

Rubbish.
Between my old man and I we've been employing high school graduates for many decades.
Today's kids can't add up/multiply/divide/subtract without a calculator and struggle to read and comprehend the most basic of instructions.
They're very switched on about their 'rights' and 'privileges' though.

I'll take the experience of five teachers in my family over your 'vibes'.
They will tell you they are all doing a bang up job, and should be getting paid more , despite the ridiculous amount of free time they have. I know i know,...they spend months of the year marking papers.
