Was weird seeing Tredrea on OWAAT the other night, and seeing him as a normal guy - and quite likeable.

Most of them are probably ok, it's just ingrained that you hate them, no matter what really.

I have found that I don't like a particular team when one or more of the teams supporter's whom I interact with at some level are w***er's about their team e.g. getting stuck into me when their team beats Adelaide, not respecting quality Crows players but calling ordinary players for their teams "Guns", constantly going on about how good their good players are, and generally being delusional about their own side in correlation with other sides. I then hate the side and wish ill of them because I want the w***er(s) to "suck it" and mitigate their wankiness as much as possible.

I live in Tasmania therefore I don't hate Port Adelaide because I don't know any w***er supporters.

Obviously if you're living in South Australia you are going to know w***er Port Adelaide supporters because of the sheer numbers. However Port Adelaide supporters will obviously know w***er Adelaide supporters. To that end in South Australia, Adelaide and Port Adelaide supporters generally hate each other's sides.

Why I hate them

I grew up in North Haven (Port Adelaide heartland) watching the Port Magpies, played under 17's and even played for north haven in my number 12 port adelaide lace up. Worshipped Hodges, Tregenza, Ginever and co run around in quite possible the last SANFL side capable of beating some AFL sides (this is the early 90's). We made Alberton a place to be feared and we loved it. I was 11 when the Crows joined the competition and jumped on them and never looked back. Even when port joined the AFL i could not turn my back on the crows like so many of my mates did.

Having said all that I have learned to hate the power more and more. When they joined I felt absolutly betrayed that there was this teal crap painted all over my beloved Alberton, so much so I beleive it killed the black & white port adelaide tradition. As the 2000's came to pass I hate them even more for even suggesting they have a 140 yo tradition. In my book the Port Adelaide Magpies the club I loved as a kid is playing in the SANFL and has the 140yo tradition and even then part of the tradition died when they were moved to Ethelton when the power came in. The Power are imposters trying to bluff the port adelaide faithful with this live the creed crap. the only thing they can lay claim to is Alberton Oval.

By the way is anyone else sick of w***er Port Power supporters wearing their supporter gear to SANFL matches.

Just on that what is the history with him and Walls did not seem to be a good feeling with those 2.

Out of all the high lights they could have showed they showed his bow but then it is hosted by Steve Quarterbrain

Not sure I do really... I see em as just another team mostly... especially these past 3 years...

I hate when their competitive... lately I just pitty them.

Tbh I hate collingwood more than port. Probably due to my living in Melbourne and the inability to avoid one eyed supporters and Eddie. I dislike port strongly. I despise Chad cornes and dean brogan. Most of all I hate the idiot port posters. The informed and rational ones, I have no gripe with.

Great post says it all:thumbsu:
They have made so many compromises to enter the AFL and still carry on about their proud tradition.

Similar story for me. Norwood fan long before the Crows were ever created. Port were the Redlegs' arch enemy long before I was born and thus the hatred was indoctrinated into me from a very early age.

Hear Hear! Vader. Have to say some of the best games of footy from my childhood were the Port v Legs games at the Parade and the 1984 Grand final was a great day. Big in my family as it went down uncles and cousins v uncles and cousins across 4 families half being Port and the others being Norwood. That has just continued and is a contributing factor why they have to cover bays at AAMI.

Because they have a bunch of bandwagoning supporters, and have absolute tossers playing for them (hate Thomas the most). I actually don't mind Choco, Chad, Motlop or even Tredders, but have little respect for the players with minimal talent who think they are top shit ie. Brogan. I can't wait to give them their 10th loss in a row.:)

lol dont be fooled, its been funny see him try and reinvent his media profile the last couple of years, seems pretty obvious someones told him hes not going to get a media job post-retirement if no one likes him.

I'm sure I'll be back to calling him a **** if he gets back onto the field. :D

My dislike for Port only extends as far as the fact they are the other team in the two team town that I live in. I really only grew up watching the AFL, never really attached myself to any SANFL side, although I do keep an eye on the competition though, so I don't have any hatred towards them in regards to their SANFL days.

One thing that does grind my gears with their supporters is their constant crap about their "tradition" and us being a soulless "franchise", and that as a result players and fans somehow have less passion for the club. This really peeves me off. Port Adelaide is every bit the franchise and composite side that Adelaide is. Both are "corporations"/"franchises" owned by the SANFL and both source players from the same lottery: the AFL draft... so I fail to see the difference between the two. Are they trying to imply that John Butcher somehow has more passion and pride in his club than Daniel Talia just because his club is (supposedly) a lot older??:rolleyes: Or from another angle, that a 10 year old Port supporter has more passion for his club than a 10 year old Crows supporter?? The only difference is that one club is 140 years old (well they like to say they are anyway) and the other is 20 years old. There is no such thing as a "traditional" side anymore. All are run like businesses to generate profit.

I just don't get how Port has more "tradition" than the Crows... tradition exists by being carried down generations but barely any of Port's players are from Port so where did these players get this Port Adelaide "tradition" from?? The AFL draft means that Port Adelaide is every bit the composite side that the Crows are. The only player in that Port side that could claim to have any sought of Port Adelaide 'tradition" is Brett Ebert.

Just a question, did the general hatred for all things Port die just a little when they got handed that 119 point disaster a few years back? Must be nice to be a Crows supporter and knowing whatever they say they will always have that disgrace hanging around.

Haha, what PB said! Couldn't have said it better myself.

I have hated Port my whole life, didn't really have a choice I guess considering my old man is a lifelong Rooster. At the end of the day they are arrogant w***ers who think the football world revolves around them and the majority are bandwagoning tossers who only started following Port cos they won most weeks.

Sitting through the '89 grand final was enough for me...

Hatred, no. It just gave us all some high quality ammunition for mocking them and their fans.

Fan base______Know some good ones, most normal, seen some ferals; my only real hate are the stupid snipers posting inane comments in the papers.

Chad Cornes___:thumbsd:

Tredrea_______:thumbsu:

Choco________Good coach, but :thumbsd:

they wear teal__Like it :D

119__________meh, happens to us all (but mostly not in a grand final...)

Dean Brogan___:thumbsd:

Daniel Motlop__:thumbsd::thumbsu::thumbsd::thumbsu:

Matt Thomas ___Now him I hate...:thumbsd: (More for the malicious body slam designed to hurt Bassett than the tackle on Trent).

...There's no reason I hate them, it's just they're the other team in Adelaide and rivalry is fun for a lot of people.

Basically my attitude. In fact - Full body armour time again - when the Power are playing well, and not playing us, I support them against most other teams.

I too have been indoctrined with the anti Poort sentiment. Growing up with a family that supports Sturt / Norwood does that to you. That and genetics.

I don't actually hate Poort Power, but more pity their delusions of tradition and grandeur. They are some of the most arrogant supporters when winning, yet dissapear in tough times. The worst kind of supporters.

I would hate to see them go however. It would make bay 13 rediculously boring.

EDIT: can't stand The Chad. Stomping on the feet of an opponent to get away is a low act!

I was born and bred around Tigerland. Why do I hate them?

-We never beat them in a GF

-Watching Granger? knockout Cornes out cold (was it?) as 6-7 year old in the GF... anyone remember that and care to elaborate if I am incorrect on the players.... it stuck in my mind though. I "really" hated them from that point on.

- Chad and Kane.... I know Im being harsh on them but I always have thought they were traitors, especially now they are truely a part of the 'Dark side'.

- When I drive up past Largs I think "Im so happy I grew up down south"

That would be the main reasons.

wow I can't beleive this thread was inspired by myself from the bay.

Well anyway, I hate the crows because us Port fans are used to 100% of the attention and we don't like to share it.
