Don’t a million people show up to see some graffiti. White night or something. I miss out on it every year. Such a busy place.

More domestic tourists go to Queensland than anywhere else in australia

As the election proved Melbourne is well and truely out of step with the rest of Australia on a number of issues. The Victorian media would have had you believe Dan Andrews is doing a terrific job and federal labor were certainties to win.

Leftist local identities such as Charlie Pickering, Jane Caro, Waleed Ali and Michelle Lawrie have since got on their soap box to criticise the majority of the country for electing a government that didn’t believe in socialism.

Crime continues to spiral out of control in Melbourne and the state Labor government have now all but confirmed there is a massive budget black hole which will result in huge debts while the government refuses to budge on the east west link which they have already wasted $1.3bn on and the federal government have been forced to step in and build the road to stop it from being a political football for Andrews ego.

The most perplexing thing about the whole situation is that the majority of people in Victoria genuinely believe in the socialist propaganda they are fed. They believe they are the majority and anyone who doesn’t agree are uneducated, scared rednecks. It is time Australia booted them out of the commonwealth so they can have their socialist paradise in peace

Didnt Marcel Proust create this exact thread, word for word the same, before it was deleted?

Lol at Melbin people consoling themselves about how “cultured” they are while they live in generic dog box 1 of 250 in a suburb that has some graffiti and a joint that sells dumplings
This, they crap on about how 'cultured' the place is yet probably live in a poorly constructed 4 x 2 in cookie cutter cookie cutter suburbia a good 20+kms from the CBD.

Culture isn't defined by what you live in, that's a pretty poor attempt at cutting down something with no reasoning. Many Europeans live in identical style housing in their towns but have wonderful culture. Similar with Japan.. it's all about the people, atmosphere and things to do - not what you live in.

But Victoria doesn’t have any beaches man and it’s always 10 degrees, says the bungeyed bundy drinker who sore port Phillip bay whilst attending an origin game (Queensland biggest night of the year, sold to the vics).

Those, supposedly, well educated, cultured Victorian/Melbournian *ankers telling us all how good they are.
I won't even begin to point out the rest.

Not sure if serious?

How is this thread not "Certified Legendary" yet?

Some bloke saying Melbourne is s**t while pumping up Qld?

Come on, that's a ******* amazing troll! There isn't a person in the country - outside the Qld rednecks who keep voting for Hanson - that wouldn't find this ridiculous!

"cookie cutter suburbia" when literally every house in a regional centre looks like one of these two pictures

"Yeah nah mate, they don't build houses like they used to. This one's way better built than all those new ones in Melbyn. She just needs to be restumped, roof re-tiled, floorboards redone, new coat of dulux and the termite problem fixed and she'll be good as new"

Mate, the build quality of the mass produced houses out in the suburbs that your average Joe buys is generally awful. I should know because I used to see them go together first hand.

If there was high enough demand for residence out in the sticks to actually warrant building new houses, I'm sure they'd be pretty average there too.

Most of Australia's developments emerged from Melbourne. Even the first Federal Parliament was established in Melbourne in 1901. Australia gave women the right to vote at elections and was one the first countries to do so (after NZ who was first).

The Union movement in Victoria was of international importance and saw the 8 hour working day implemented as a global condition of employment. Melbourne was also the financial capital of Australia and still is.

I hope you didn't think that Freemantle and the WA state played any important or significant roles in civil and social development in this country?
Jesus.
Giving women the vote AND strong unionism.

Melbourne is a diverse and multicultural wonderland. The rest of Australia are racist. They need to embrace multiculturalism as without it they will not survive.
