Society/Culture Why is Multiculturalism a good thing?

Well this is the OP below:

So yes, this thread is about multiculturalism in Australia. Therefore, by default, if you post an article without any sort of qualifier most people will assume you think it applies in an Australian context. To be honest though, I don't care why you posted the article, all I care about it the answer to the question you've been avoiding - What people make up the native population in Australia? As a second generation Australian am I part of the native population?
As I said above. He isn't capable.

I agree with what you say!

So to clarify Western Civilisation has reached it's end point? There's no room to build new civilisation or culture? Would you say the Enlightenment was anti-civilisation?

Western civilization is on the decline.

Feminism/SJW are attempting to deconstruct western civilization in order to further their utopian goal of a society where straight, white men, especially those who're Christian, aren't in charge, for such ones make up the feminist/SJW's imagined Patriarchy.

"Enlightenment" is nondescript, subjective and thus worthless.

For those who haven't read the whole thread, and I am one of them, Australia specifically isn't in the thread title, hence most posting of the article. I don't care if that's not to your liking.

I've avoided your question because I've already told you where to seek your answer.

Tess is of the opinion that the book of revelations is upon us.

It might be if we're not careful. Except there's no god and no ones getting saved.

The guy thinks Obama is a pawn of Satan... what are you hoping to get out of a discussion with him?
All he can do is regurgitate shit that he reads on nutter websites. He can't answer your questions logically or without hyperbole or general bullshit.
Challenge laid out for tessa.

Fair to say I don't come across his type very often in my social network and I'm genuinely interested in his worldview and how he's arrived at it.

Yeah, I understand your genuine intent. But I've tried the same thing a looong time ago..
I was fascinated by him for a little while, and really wanted to find out more...

It doesn't go anywhere. He is just not capable of it.

Fair enough, you could say Western civilisation is on the decline relatively but that's only because 10 years ago it was at it's ultimate zenith.

The new world is one of rationalism, science, efficiency and the tech nerd libertarian. There's no place for Christianity/Religion, discrimination against women/gays/jews/blacks in this system tessa because they all represent inefficiency of the market. It's a shame that the primary driver of feminism and anti-racism is the market and not our ethical standards but there you go.

The coldness of this new world concerns me too sometimes but I find solace in my garden rather than God.

I'm confused about what you mean regarding the Enlightenment. You know I'm taking about the time period of great technological advancement and cultural advancement that was based upon an earlier Western tradition of reason?

Ah well, I've never had the pleasure so I'd like to ask :D

Please do! I'm not meaning you should stop asking.

How easy would it be to prove me wrong right now, and just answer some questions without the usual diatribe of bullshit? I'd look pretty silly if he actually answered without the usual bullshit.

Either Jehovah's Witness or similarly weird fringe Christian group. Knew a JW in school, he cried when they announced his birthday at school assembly. They are damaged people.

It's a pleasure to see everyone getting along so well. Please try and resist the need to wish others dead, no matter how strongly you feel it.

The default answer to this question appears to be "they increase the variety of restaurant food" but that, to me, seems rather trivial. I've asked this a couple times to different people but no one can give me a clear, tangible benefit to Australia (eg not 'cultural enrichment', whatever that actually means). I'd be interested to see the arguments for greater multiculturalism in the country.
The easy answer is '''imagine the internet...we just you on it."

He's run off now :(

That wikistub is pretty dense in links though, so maybe tessa will get back to me with a breakdown of the flaws of Diderot.

It would be terrifying as a child to live in times like these with a severe sexual sin complex being battered in to you at home. If you're going to do that sort of thing I reckon it's only fair to the kids to go full Amish until they can grasp the concepts a bit better.

You post an stupid article, that's bullshit...

You're called out on it...

You then claim it has nothing to do with you, and you don't agree with it...

And now it's someone else's fault?

You're such a mangina!
But to be fair, at least tesseract has learnt not to plagiarise, since being found out in the violence against women thread.

There is no "new world", but there is technological advancement and advancing ideologies. Feminism isn't a force of the market, it's driven by ideologues.

The article I posted, authored not by a religious man, reasons that a decline in religion plays a part in Western civilizations impending cultural collapse. So, to say that religion doesn't have a place is shortsighted as to the role religions plays in maintaining culture.

The way you used the word "enlightenment" was ambiguous. There was no context to its use.
