Since the Fitzroy - Bears Merger, most of the debate, discussion and unhappiness has been between supporters of the current Brisbane Lions and the supporters of the former Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy Lions.
What has happened to make it such public debate 4 years after the merger?
Personally I can't understand it.
Of 15 clubs, 13 voted in favour of the merger. 1 didn't, being North as they wanted it for themselves, and Fiztroy of course abstained.
July 4th this year was 4 YEARS since that vote and the merger agreement papers were signed. The terms and conditions of those papers have been met. In fact, some have actually even been voluntarily exceded by the new club. Even tho I beleive that the Brisbane Lions could have handled situations better with the supporters of both clubs, they never actually violated the terms of the merger.
What has happened to make this such a contentious issue during this years final series?
