It's obvious Voss is one of the weakest and most pathetic leaders in AFL history. But Craig McRae is clearly one of the best motivators, best tacticians in the game right now. Why on earth was Voss ever captain of Brisbane? How many more flags would Brisbane have won if McRae was captain as he obviously should of been? How was such a pea heart ever anywhere near captaincy?

It's frustrating really. On the MB you constantly hear "send it to the Bay", yet I find the Bay actually has the best football content on this site. We know what we're talking about (well, mostly) but don't take the whole thing too seriously, unlike those dull, boring campaigners on the MB.

So you’re saying James Hird was a s**t captain as well.

Hird was a poor captain at first, like Buckley. Both learned to communicate and ended up above average in my view, but they were both champion players made captain because..um...hey they're our best player, right?

Both were intensely proud and wonderful examples but weren't instinctive motivators. I think both were decent coaches.

Voss was a brilliant captain, you'd see him rallying blokes, savagely criticizing one, coaxing another, giving them the sticks or carrots they needed to get them going. Stood up for his boys too, and bullied hard on the field.

As a player Voss wasn't as brilliant as Hird or as consistent as Bucks but he was a far better captain, and could lift at vital times so in a a way he was as good an exemplary leader as them too.

Of the three I felt he'd be the best coach. Maybe he will be, currently it's Bucks by a mile.
