Why we are on the right track.

The one thing that I believe that has held us back is our lack of recruiting a large group of players around the same age. We have now done this.

If you look at the baby bombers eighties and nineties, the Eagles in the early nineties, The kangaroos in the nineties they and Brisbane as well the all seem to have had around ten player all around the same age come through together. Even our 1995 side had the a core of players from KB's youth policy.

So lets look at our youngsters and there age at rnd 1 2005.

Archibald 19
Gilmour 18
bret Deliedio 17
Hartigan 19
Jackson 18
Limbach 18
Mcguane 18
Pattison 18
Polo 18
Roach 19
Raines 19
Shulz 19
Tambling 18
Meyer 18
Thats 14 players under twenty.

Even if only half of these players become regular senior playerswe are on the right track

Ideally Our goal should be for these players to get as much game time as possible in the next three years so by the 2008 season we have a core of about 8-12 players all with about 50 to 60 games under there belts with maybe a couple of finals appearance ready to take on the premiership.

Pattison would only be a part-time ruckmen.

Moore is 20 (21?) and looks like he'll be a 3rd defender at best, while Thursfield needs 2 years in a gym at least and is far from a certainty.

Schultz and Archibald could end up being defenders, so not all hope is lost there.

I doubt Limbach, Mcguane and Pattison will end up defenders.

I would like to see us draft a pure+proven junior ruckmen and defender next year.

Yep, gives the club a great opportunity to develop something we don't seem to have had for a long time, a strong bond between the playing group which produces a much better team game.
