Wiggins 100th

so considering the last 2 weeks plus this week we have had milestones for our players, in the past we used to be able to lift even more on these games to ensure we would actually notch the 4 points

probably the last couple of seasons we have done poorly even more so in these games

i just hope we can win one for the Wiggler!!

i couldnt be happier if we get the 4 points and Wiggo is chaired off the ground!!!

Players who've played plenty of footy in the seniors have been delisted before but it'd be an interesting call to delist Wiggins after he's been given so many games.
Trent Sporn or someone of his ilk was cut after playing 14 games or thereabouts in their last season.

I don't know why we would keep Wiggins for another year when he's a fringe forward who isn't damaging and doesn't kick goals. We have far too many of this type of player who hasn't taken the next step and constantly teased us with average games just to hold their spot in the side.

It's time.

I'd rather see a player such as Hartlett get to a hundred games and give us something we don't have.

My enduring memories of Wiggins during his time at Carlton is him being swathed in head bandages time and time again, as he goes in so hard and cops one for the team. He rivals Adrian Hickmott in that respect.

Can't believe some people are on here suggesting he should be delisted... If half our team played with the same desire as this bloke we wouldn't be talking top 8, we'd be talking top 4.

Respect him highly. No skills, no brain but one massive heart.

Congrats Wiggler. I'll be cheering for you loudly, as always, on Sunday.

I don't want to be negative but if half the team had the skill and talent of Wiggins we'd be talking bottom four yet again. Despite all his admirable qualities he's still among the worst players in the league.

Wiggins is a nice guy, but he's still a spud.

Besides Fevola, he is probably the next best one grab player when it comes to marking at Carlton. Leads hard and I haven't any reason to doubt his skills.

One more year for him to back up an admirable performance this year wouldn't be out of the question....

And as ODN said, I think there are a few more ahead of him on the chopping block.

Jordan Russell being one of them.

Fevola and Wiggins aren't the best one grab marks in our team.

And Russell is a better player than Wiggins.

I'm as eager as any Carlton supporter to move the deadwood on and develop a winning culture again, but after reading this:

As Carlton's future brightens, the same confidence can't be said of Wiggins. He is out of contract at the end of the season and the next six home-and-away games could determine if gets another contract.
"I'm not sure what's going to happen there," he said.
"But this year has meant so much to me.
"Obviously the four or five years leading into this year were that difficult.
"I didn't know what it was like to saddle up for a game of football thinking we were a really good chance of winning.
"You obviously get a bit down and it's not as much fun as you'd hoped. But this year every game we go into, I think we're a real chance, we can knock any team off."

I think we could find a spot on the list for Wiggo in 2009 as a depth player, let him play in another 10 or so wins after the blood sweat and tears he has put into our club over the dark years.

He is still a bloody good mark and gives a lot of defensive pressure to our forward line. There is still a place for him in this team. 2 year deal is in order i feel. Who does his job better than he does? Russel sure as **** isn't useful on the HF line.....

Wiggins has been a lot more effective as a forward than Fisher this year.

You can mark it in the forward 50 all you want, if you miss most of your shots they don't equate to jack.

Congratulations to Wiggins, now let's hope we can get up.

except for when he feels any body contact and ends up on his arse :o

I agree with the other bloke.

What a ridiculous statement. He's has a few bad games and all of a sudden the many many contested marks he's took over his career don't exist anymore.

Well done to Wiggo on reaching 100 games for the navy Blues. I've been a critic of his over the years but there's three things you can't deny:

1 - He loves the club and is as proud as anyone to play for the greatest team in the AFL.

2 - Every time he takes the field he gives 100%. Might not be the fastest, strongest or most skillful, but he tries his guts out every single week.

3 - He is a very popular player and a great clubman.

I was very sceptical of his spot on our list this season, but to his credit i reckon he's actually done alright. Should be offered a 1 yr contract for next year on minimum wage. Would be a much better option than some 70+ draft pick.

He wasn't disputing the amount of contested marks Fisher has taken, just that Wiggins is the better of the two when it comes to one grab marks.

Blues Man knows his footy, tip of the hat.
