Anyone purchased this game? Its a great game, awesome visuals, realistic swing.............then you get to the green and it all goes pear shaped. What a deplorable putting action this game has.

I'm starting to think, Resident Evil 4 aside, that the wii console is the biggest ripoff in gaming. If you want a real gaming experience, give it a wide berth.

Any tips for putting before I drop kick this console into the rubbish tip would be appreciated.

I've found the same thing.

I'm like Tiger all over the course, then I get to the green and I turn in to Robert Allenby!

The bitch that commentates even said once, "That is some of the worst putting I have ever seen"

Putting is letting down what is otherwise a very solid game.

Disappointed no one commented on my Happy Gilmour reference:(

You can trouble me for a warm glass of shut-the-hell-up! Now, you will go to sleep or I will put you to sleep. Check out the name tag. You're in my world now, grandma!

Thank you...i feel validated:D
I felt like saying a quote, but nothing was coming so I just left it.
However I nominated Shooter McGavin for the biggest badass in movie history on the media and entertainment board.

What swing are you guys using i am using the middle swing not all-play or the advanced one cant remeber what its called but i think putting is quite normal.

1. line up the putt as you would using the green reader.
2. Press the ninus to get the read for that line speed.
3. Make adjustments if needed
4. Use a putting stoke and go back to get the desired percentage on the side, then follow through in a putting motion

Works well for me and imo putting is most realistic thing in the game although its is very lenient

Yup, love the game.

I'm solid at putting now. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you are used to it I think it's a pretty good mechanism. My tips??

1. Start out on Standard swing so that you get the line read once, until you start getting pretty close to the hole without looking at it.

2. Read the slope of green and adjust for it. Remember for straight & flat putts, you want to aim past the hole.

3. The default putter selected for you is often not the way to go. If you have a 1m putt and the game gives you the '1m' putter, change to the 3m putter and swing about half strength, rather than going for the 100% swing with the 1m putter. You always want to aim past the hole on a flat putt, not right on the hole.

4. Just because you are aiming a marker somewhere on the green, doesn't necessarily mean that's exactly where your ball is going. You still have to get the strength right. If you think you've got your spot right and it is suggesting 85% of your current putter, then make sure you swing at 85%. The easiest way to do this is to think of each line on the putting meter as 5%. The first line down from the top is 95%, the second 90% and so on. Sometimes when playing with friends, one of us will go up to the screen and hold our finger where the correct % we want is, as lines get very close together in the 40-65% range.

5. Best way to get the strength exactly where you want it is to slowly and gradually swing back with a straight arm (like a pendulum) and watch the metre build up. If you hold your arm still on the backswing, the meter will remain stationary. Once you've got to the % you want, swing through in a steady motion with your arm. None of this wrist-flick crap you might use in Wiisports.

Anyway, hope that helps. Beware steep uphill and downhill putts, they can be tricky. Even gentle downhill putts can end up rolling alot further than you think they will. But as I said, once you use the line read tool, you start to get a feel for where the ball will go. You'll still have the odd horrible putt, but it does start to make sense after a while and before you know it, you won't even be using the putt preview.

P.S. Doing the bulldance, feeling the flow...

LOL There is no way taking a full length swing for a couple of feet putt is realistic
