That was a very pleasing performance. Was involved which can be a challenge for the sub and very composed. Made good decisions and hit targets, albeit, not very aggressive with disposals. Not that you would want him to be aggressive at that stage of the game.

He is unlikely to be there come finals time but did show he could be one for the future.

Impressive first game for the club, did not look over-awed at all, got quite a bit of it and linked up well.

You've got to wonder if maybe Ed Allen doesn't come straight back in next week and Roan gets another crack?
wrong thread?

Brought some good energy when he came on I thought. Looked to take the game on and attacked the ball really well too.

Parker was rock solid! Young players walk taller when they know and trust the system.

I'd wager that we'd struggle to see potential in him if he played the same minutes for the Blues last night. Environment is important and so is knowing that you're a cog in a wheel that is spinning beautifully.

This is a great time to be a Collingwood fan. We're uncovering gems on a weekly basis.

That's good news. When was his contract renewed?
Everywhere I look says contracted till 2025.
locked away young defender Wil Parker quietly last year.

The 22-year-old signed a two-year deal when he walked away from cricket to join the Magpies as a Category B rookie last February.

Parker hit a trigger for an extra season for 2026 when he featured in five games in his first season at Collingwood.

Parker looks ready, just needs games, and that is a good problem to have. Keeping the pressure on blokes to keep bringing their A games.

Some risky kicks last night, but he can find the ball, loves to run and carry too.
His ground ball pickup at full tilt on the wing in the 3rd of the VFL game was elite for an AFL player - he continually has cameos where he shows that he has the capability, just needs to learn how to exert more influence on the game and he'll be a 10 year player.

Parker and Sullivan would be high on the list
I don't think Sully will be a target. I think he's a solid depth player, but not ideal for any role. If you want a pressure forward or a mid or the roles he plays for us - I don't think you're chasing Sully - whereas Parker, Steele, and Allan all are blokes who have really strong attrributes for particular roles. Who knows whether these guys will do what Richards did if they get an offer - but I think they're players that several teams would be looking at.

I'd hate to lose Sully but if he was offered 3 years from another club with decent money I think he would have to take it.
I can't see us offering more than a year but I do think he's well loved by the team and he always gives 100%.
I think if we offered 2 then he would be happy to stay but who knows.

I think it's likely Steele will be offered a new contract although he'd likely have to be picked to play more games in the senior side to find out.
I still would not be surprised to see Ed Allan get poached by a WA team, even if he is happy in Victoria.

I'm thinking more wing but midfield is worth a try

Been saying that for 12 months!

I think half the problem is you get 30 midfielders on a TAC cup list, so some get shunted to backline and forward line roles and that’s where they end up. Wil played as a midfielder and dominated at junior level, Dylan Williams at Port kicked 15 goals in a game as an u/18, yet he’s a hbf now as that’s where his TAC cup side played him.

This is the issue we face atm with our veterans, whilst they’re playing good footy still, at some stage you just might have to let one or 2 go so the up and comers can get their chances. We’ve seen a bit of these kids to know they’ll be good footballers, but we need to make sure we can keep them and not be poached with offers of more minutes.

I saw someone the other day saying Allan is out for good now Steele is in. Massive overreaction, it’s one game and Allan has shown enough to still be first choice. He just needs consistency and that will come from more games.
