The next 12 mths will form his career. It's up to him to take the opportunity or just be a multi-club player who could have been anything come the end of his career. Perhaps he should read fevs book to see how not to screw up a footy career.

Because Ben cousins played in an era where provided you continued to play good footy the club didn't give a shit . The fallout of Cousins been de-registered has changed the way clubs look at off field behaviour and as such I think Dustin will forever be ridden and as such won't be capable of playing anywhere near his best footy . Before eventually rebelling going on a few massive benders and being delisted .
Ask someone in marketing / sponsorship what sort of effect negative press re players has on their job , companies putting cash in for sponsorship don't want the negative press , there is more people within the world who are against people who go on weekly benders than there are those who support it .

Is that like dud, delist???????

Huge talent , out of control , get as much as you can .

How out of control are we talking here RP ? A few disco biscuits at a festival every now and then or sh&t lockered every night at home with a heap of boys from Sunshine with police helicopters constantly flying over the house checking up on them.

Homely?

He would be out even more if he gets one of those

I was going to suggest that maybe he gets a boy friend but some of those cashed up gays take enough drugs to kill a rhino. I'm not sure if Dusty is the type of guy that would have The Pet Shop boys and Frankie Goes To Hollywood on high rotation in his Datsun.

If Chocco, Chimp and Dimma can't get through to him then no-one can. Either he improves within the next 12 months or it's bon voyage. I hope it works out, I really, really do but you can't put one guy ahead of the team. I'd rather a well-structured, disciplined, hard working unit then 6 Buddy Franklins. Worked too damn hard for the current culture for it to go to shit.

I love you Dusty! More 2011 and less pills or it's off to Melbourne for their first 3 picks

Amazing talent but wouldn't have been against him being floating around at trade time , 2 top 5 picks would have been a good result IMO .
Won't surprise me if he has already played his best footy .
I agree.. Floated this on the draft thread and got howled down, which I can understand. But this article, regardless of accuracy, is worrying. It's all about the "brand" these days and how people perceive the club.
The bloke is impressionable and clearly easily led, now that he is out of March's house there isn't that supervision. This season will be very interesting.

A few disco biscuits at a festival every now and then ( for a public figure / AFL footballer)

I suspect Dusty sits somewhere in between .

While I appreciate that the HUN have started this discussion by writing the article, just remember that speculating about what Dusty might be doing on here can lead others to take it as fact and run with it. So be careful what you post.

He just needs to throw everything into footy. He obviously loves the game and I'd be majorly surprised if he had anything else to fall back on. Hopefully he gets it.

My ******* god some of you guys are clowns.. This kid didnt grow up in Brighton and attend Carey Grammar and have a charmed life leading into footy. He quit school to play footy and by all accounts did it tough in his childhood..
Lets not all neg out on the kid and lets have faith that the RFC can harness him (which they are trying to do) so he can tear the league a new arseh*le.
**** it shits me how quickly some of you spoons jump off players in a heart beat because hes not a tea totalling 'solid citizen'

I dont have a digital pass so what exactly has he done this off season thats so bad?? And also has he actually returned to training with the 1-3 year players??
Just type in news.com.au , it's free and the same stories are there, no money required. You can also type the heading of the article into google and then you'll be able to select it from the "finds" and read it for free there....

Used this word on the Aaron Edwards thread and I'll use it again.
HYPOCRITES!!!o_O
There was people lining up to stone the new Tiger for getting drunk at the races, but it appears there are deeper problems here and most are willing to simply brush it aide and say, "it happens".
One standard for one and one for another????
I said it at the time of the Connors incident, this kid needs to pull his head in (I like many have heard some awful stories about Dusty).
I maintain the same .. pull your head in.
His 2012 season was nothing spectacular!!

He is an afl footballer not a bricklayer , it may come as a surprise to you and others , but the standard of off field ( out of work hours) behaviour expected is completely different .
Unlike some professions getting blotto has a significant effect on their ability to perform anywhere near the best of their ability .
His past , has little to do with the expectation of him within his choosen profession .
If he doesn't want or can't perform to the level expected of an AFL footballer , he won't be an AFL footballer for long .

No surprises the response came from you.. The defence rests..
