this guy had so much potential as a player so it seems strange that he was dropped last year.

does anyone know why carlton gave him the boot when he was so damn good?

Bentick was never damn good.

He was a good honest centreman that the game passed by.

If he is lucky he may get a look in at GC17 or GWS but would need a bit of luck to go his way.

Well they took Daniel Harris so you never know...

sort of one of the leftovers of those darker times. had a soft spot for him like a lot of the rookies. it's easy to stick the boot into a past player, adequate types and shit types may as well be the same if they're not a star player. mind you i would struggle to call any player shit so others may be better judges...

mclean was seen as an upgrade on bentick... add to that we still have hadley hanging around. similar players but bentick perhaps didn't have the same knack of finding it even though he was the in and under type. didn't play a whole lot in his last year at the club and mclean coming along pretty much gave him no chance anyway.

Bentick came through with Carrots, both were kinda slow, but Carrots has better skill..I reckon Bentick could have done OK in another club, he sort of played like a Collingwood player, nothing spectuacular but did a good job.

I think he didn't really go up a notch when Juddy came in, but to be brutally honest, Hadley hasn't done much better, Johnson is another dud, and McClean is proving to be a bit of a dud as the season progresses, I know he's injured, but Hadley start off OK, got injured and went nowhere, I reckon McClean will end up the same..

We still haven't got the right middy to block and help Juddy in-and-under.

Is that you Adam?

You were a serviceable footballer but you were unfortunate enough to play for a crap Carlton side that was painfully slow and/or undersized at times, and whose midfield was serviced by below average ruckmen.

Not sure whether you were not quite good enough or in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Bentick played for the VFL last Saturday at Leederville oval. He was very ordinary.

Brett Johnson (capt of VFL and former Carlton footballer) was much much much better. So was Luke Blackwell.

Was a good tackler and a big deal was made when Ratts handed him the #7. Was to slow and his disposal was very frustrating.

That's about all i remember of Bent-Dick (BT, always let that one slip).:thumbsu:

Hard working midfielder and strong tackler. Averaged 18 disposals and 6 tackles per game in 2007 and 2008. Played 68 games for the blues.

Overlooked by the MC in 2009 despite showing some good form in the bullants, I assume because he lacked pace.

how much would he have been getting paid?

i know the AFL has a minimum wage of $2500 per game.

bentick must have been getting quite a bit more.

You know I have to admit I had a similar thought about AB as well, then I remembered he was slow as shit, had poor skills and a big head for a small body. No chance he'll be back.

However, you couldn't question his committment and he was a really humble guy. Would love to seem get a game at GC or the new sydney team and I wish him all the best.:thumbsu: Same with Bret Johnson and Blackwell:thumbsu:

I have to admit that I was a Bentick fan. I reckon that he showed a bit. It's a shame that he's not running around with the Ants vying for an opportunity.

I see the man in the RMIT Business building from time-to-time. The first time I basically stared and he caught me and we both knew I recognised him.
He was a great tackler and good inside player but we have Mclean now, so lets get serious. Still has some size about him, though.

He vied, he vailed.

Bentick had his good games but too many deficiancies. At carlton we believe we need the token inside mid that can't run. We have picked Mclean who we believe is an upgrade of Bentick, and hopefully is.

Maybe it was Michael C. Hall.
