Problem is, do you really see him being replaced? He reports to Goyder who is possibly the only other person in football who is more useless than Dillon.
There is just such a spectacular leadership problem in the AFL.
This is what happens when you hand Vicco's the reigns.I think only now are we realising how good we had it with Gillon. He made mistakes too and seemed too eager to keep the AFL in the headlines but was a really good media performer and was someone who you felt had control. When he was in charge he gave the game a lot of growth.
Dillon just looks incompetent. Agree that he might be a handy 2IC, but a CEO he ain't. And that's saying nothing about Laura Kane.
I think Swann is the best fit if they axe Dillon.
I don't see how he wouldn't stay? I don't see him standing down? The league is in trouble if he stays. The "House of Demetriou" is a pestilent curse.
This is what happens when you hand Vicco's the reigns.
Demetriou, terrible
Dillon, Terrible
Jackson, great
Mclaughlin, ok
Did he say he seemed like a good bloke?Well my mate saw him at the Adelaide casino tonight before the Port vs Gold coast game
Another Knock on Gillon McLachlan though is he allowed a lot of shit rules to come into the game on his watch.Gillon was the best ceo in my opinion, the only major stuff up's I think he made were expanding the AFLW too fast and dropping the ball in western sydney, both towards the end of his tenure. He did a lot more good than bad overall.
Gone too hard to make a quick buck and not enough care in the state of the game. But I guess with record attendences and TV raings, here probably sees himself as the GOAT of AFL CEO's. The sport could be doing so much better, but there is way too many administration clangers.
How? Compared to all the others.No.
Has been a failure.
Blues, bombers, eagles and tigers all crap. Thats not dillons fault.Hasn´t the AFL ****ed tv ratings this season????
Blues, bombers, eagles and tigers all crap. Thats not dillons fault.
Yeah cos their handling of the bombers drugs debacle was not an absolute disaster at allYou know he's bad when you look back at Gil and Demetriou fondly.

You could pick bigfooty users out of a hat, they'd do a better job than DILLon.
There must have been reservations in the AFL Commission too, given how long it took to appoint him and keeping Gill on for longer than expected as CEO.I think you have it spot on. Great 2IC. Not a leader.
It's his babyWho came up with the idea of opening round (0). Surely not Dillon?
