Interesting time to ask this question given Petracca's 11-year career at the Demons has just come to an end and his new career at the Suns is about to begin. The obvious answer right now is the Demons given he's a premiership player + Norm Smith medallist + 200 gamer at the Dees and is very likely to play less years at the Suns. Realistically, we're probably looking at 5-6 seasons at the Suns considering he turned 30yo a few weeks ago.

So, in your mind, what would it take for Petacca's upcoming stint at the Suns to be more memorable than his tenure at the Dees? Would more premierships get it over the line in your mind or would it take more than that? More Grand Finals? BnFs? Top 10 Brownlow finishes? 100+ games? And do you think he'll achieve whatever your criteria is in the upcoming years that he will play for the Suns?

What do you think?

5 to 6 years is ambitious. A few power mids like Dangerfield do it (helped by moving into the forward line), but I'd think 4 is more realistic. Certainly as anything like a high impact player - and it very well could be less.

I think you need to put the pipe down

Just hope that he doesn't shirk body contact at the Suns, which was a massive problem for him in 2025. Watching him run around to the back of a pack to avoid marking contests was another highlight.

I'll remember him for having an inferior Cash Converters ad to the Bont.

He'd have to be pretty influential in the results even then. Like kick the game winner in an iconic way.
Would winning a Brownlow at the Suns get it over the line? Because he definitely got the 3 votes last night. Obviously a long way to go this season, but not having to compete with Rowell for votes early in the season could mean he racks them up over the next 4-6 weeks.

Demons treated him like sh*t and that extends to their fan base. He will be remembered as a Sun, a club that actually will treat him with respect.
The small sample size so far suggests you might be right about the appreciation/respect. The bloke looked like he was on cloud 9 last night! Seemed to be smiling all game long.

Premature thread.

He's forever on the lists of premiership players and Norm Smith medallists as a Demon. As it currently stands, you'd have to refer to a round 0 team sheet for any record of him being a Sun's player. In 50 years would people even know there was a round 0 once?
