He'll be remembered as a sook who played for 2 clubs. Once you wear more than one jumper it's the way it is. I remember Doug Hawkins playing for Fitzroy, Rene Kink playing for Essendon and Len Thomson playing for South, among countless others.

It's embarrassing to end your career as a Sun, but it is what it is.

He might end up a bit of a Brian Lake if Gold Coast win a couple of flags but he played 200 games in 10 years at the Dees and won two B&Fs and won the Norm Smith medal in the first Dees flag for 50 years so even though he's an Instagram foodie flog he's in pretty rare air at MFC.

It looks like he will be extremely dominant playing with the Suns for the next 3 years, he was going through the motions last season and severely injured the year before. He didn't want to be at Melbourne and now has a new lease of footy life, he will end up being remembered as a Sun if they win the flag! It just goes to show how much of this game can be determined mentally. Petracca has already stamped himself as an early Brownlow medal favourite.

Footy wise it's ideal for Petracca. He's 30 and has been an elite player for about 6 years. Even last year he dropped off but still put together some very good games. He's a heavy dude, so the 2021-23 version of him probably isn't a realistic expectation at age 35. Other than Dangerfield the players that keep going and going and going tend to be more endurance athletes. Similar to Dangerfield, Petracca can be the man at Gold Coast but he doesn't have to be. It's Rowell and Anderson's team, so he can join them on ball land make it unfair on everyone else, or he can play a Shaun Burgoyne role and pinch hit in big games as needed.
