Only player we have snagged in recent years is Macdonald and he was completely under the radar, just rocked up to training.
Can't help but think we should shut up.

I agree however I don't think we have a snow flake chance in hell.
Word is Carlton are hot for him in a big way.
They need forwards a lot more than the Dees and will use an early pick to take him
We will not win that one!
It also has the smell of trickery to me.
Remember last year we were chasing ----- from St kilda!
As it turned out we had no intention of recruiting him.
I think Bailey is throwing out a few red herrings again!

Bailey hardly threw out red herrings. He half heartedly said you'd have to look at the guy. Would want to better actor than that if he's up to something.

He is heading into the PSD not the national draft. If we wanted him, we could get him before Carlton or Freo.

Bailey said we were interested and they would talk to him when he got back from the USA.
come draft day we passed.

I will be very surprised if we are really interested in Anthony, perhaps if he came cheap.
we would not give up much for Hale so I cannot see us using an early pick on Anthony.
He will be at Carlton or perhaps now Essendon!

I don't think anyone's suggesting we will or should use an early pick. The consensus seems to be - don't take him at all, or yes, take him with a very late ND pick or a PSD pick.

If you use a late draft pick Carlton or someone else will beat you to him and if you wait till the PSD he will put a price on his head that will scare off the Dees.
Yup - and we'll say "no thanks" as per the Hale deal when we didn't want to get into a bidding war over a c-grade player.

This is SO blatantly a trade still. It's so obvious Freo and Collingwood agreed on terms that if Tarrant went to the Pies, the Pies would delist Anthony so he could go to Freo. I mean, has already spoken and trained with another team? And agreed? Straight away? Without meeting any other teams? And flying STRAIGHT to Perth?
He was always going to Freo by the looks of it.

Sorry, have I missed something? Not that I want Anthony, but the Dockers don't have the first pick in the pre-season draft? How how can just nominate Freo when there are so many clubs that have a pick before them?

It's extremely rare that a club will pick up a player that is already interested in another club... we could get him, but why would we? He doesn't wanna play for us... so be it...move on.

I'm hearing you, brother. I don't want this bloke and have no desire to see him at MFC, particularly if he doesn't want to be there..
My point is this: What's the point of having a draft if a bloke can say, "I pick Freo. They can take me with their pick 12 in the PSD, or whatever it is." If Freo wanted him so badly, and he wanted to get to Freo, they had the chance to make it happen during trade week.
It doesn't sit right with me.

I can understand that.. it's defeats the whole purpose of the draft. At the same time Anthony would be incredibly stupid to nominate Freo with no backing at all...it would be detrimental to his chances of getting picked up by another club.. so obviously he realises he is a sure thing to get picked up by Freo.. something NQR about this whole situation.
