Definitely have the big men for the job, Crameri and Hurley are high quality KPF's. Hurley has to be a permanent forward, with Hooker/Hibberd/Carlisle and co their defence is well-stocked without him.

A lot will depend on Monfries/Jetta/Davey turning up in the finals, not a dig at them personally just that small forwards output in finals is generally quite low. I still think they may be one class outside mid short though, with Watson/Hocking/Stanton they certainly have the ball-winning ability.

I agree most small forwards this days go missing in finals but I just wanted to remind you of how well Monfies played against Carlton in our thumping elimination final loss last year - even if it wasn't necessarily playing up forward.

Still have Zaharakis to come back to be that class outside midfielder.

The inside 50 argument and missed shots is only applicable when taken into account Essendon's performances, if we take into account other clubs it's not relevant.

You are taking one Essendon supporters opinion and applying it to the whole supporter base. Using your logic every Hawthorn supporter agrees with your ranking system.

I actually think they're a shot. Wouldn't be putting money on them, but they should finish top 4, and if they play to their capabilities will be able to at least match any team. Tough to stop when they get a run on.

Massive advantage playing so many games at the MCG and Docklands, no matter who the opposition is.
Uh, that's not rigged, that's just a reality of a competiton that

A) has ten out of eighteen teams from the one state, and

B) where local grounds (i.e. Princes Park, Vic Park, Windy Hill) have gone by the wayside.

It also means that Victorian teams have a minor disadvantage in that we rarely have truly home games with 90% support and the opposition travelling to the game that most non-Victorian teams have. Of course this is more than balanced out by the amount of travel that non-Victorian sides do themselves, not to mention the disruption to form that going into 50% of games at a disadvantage and the other 50% having an advantage.

With Jobe and Stanton the two best mids in the comp, and the way they dispatched Freo, they have to be just a smidgen behind Collingwood as flag favorites.
Stanton and Watson are not even close to the best 2 mids in the competition. One of the two (Watson) might be lucky to be considered in the top 3. Still a very good pair though
