Will Essendon win the Flag ?

I agree, and opposition supporters should show some common courtesy and avoid any conversations that the Bombers are pretenders.

Touché.

The guy has history of being an Essendon troll, hence my comment.

Bombers played on genuine emotion early in the season but tonight the Cats showed that when the pressure is applied, the little chipmunks (ie. Davey, Jetta, Monfries etc) who have been frontrunning for most of the season now go missing.

And if David Hille isn't finished as a senior footballer I don't know what one is, he has been a bad liability all night for them.

The Bombers just don't have enough A grade players to win a flag- simple as that.

Look at the top line talent in the last few grand finalists. Essendon only have a small portion of stars, and without Watson they would struggle to make the 8. Collingwood couldn't win the flag last year with: Pendlebury, Swan, Thomas, Beams, Sidebottom, Cloke and Shaw. The Saints couldn't win one with Reiwoldt, Dal Santo, Hayes, Montagna and Goddard.

Not saying Essendon don't have a bright future- I think there is a lot of potential talent in the list. They're still a few years away from being a threat in September.

Even though a lot of people are having a laugh at their expense (me included) but they have improved considerably this year and they are on the right track. You are quite right about the A-Graders too, if they can find 1-2 solid mids and a good goalkicking tall forward (ie. regularly kicks goal) then they are going to give it a really good shake.

Problem is, if they think they are going to be a force by having frontrunning seagulls like Davey & Jetta in the team, then they will take longer to get there.

Who said we were flag threats? Wins against bottom teams are not going to get us there. Still sticking with my prediction. 6th-8th. Simple

Essendon shown a big weakness towards pressure tonight. They were tackles and harrased and allowed no space and turned it over a lot. It was finals like football and Geelong were very good. Will be interesting to see if they can stand up under that sort of pressure in the future.

This. They'll struggle in finals if they don't improve on recent form due tot he increased pressure.

Are they getting tired? Looked average for 3 quarters vs Port last week before finally switching on in the last. Found out tonight too, smashed by the Saints. Very worrying for their fans

funny, I was not the one who started this shit you brainless kiddy toucher!

Suck it dude!
Your Essendon are going to get belted first week of the finals as Watson is fatigued, Stanton is the biggest choker in big games since Alan Didak and once Crameri is found out which is now, you have no other options toward goals as the little guys are as overrated as Carlton's small forwards.
Hurley is incredibly overrated and he's no excuse, look at your outs and then look at Geelong's outs tonight, considerable difference in talent which will be running around next time we play you flogs (if it happens to be September), you know it, your stupid Essendon supporters know it and it's great to see your season slowly but surely get flushed down the toilet as another year goes wanting.

I mean where the hell were these young players who are suppose to be the future???????

Well at least i know i am not the only person drinking and posting on bigfooty tonight o_O

Are we in 2011 again? Emotion? Emotion of what? You goose.

Couldnt agree more Johnny. Emotion had nothing to do with it. Thats just plain silly. You were just lucky to have early wins against North, Port, GC, Lions. Tiges and GWS, it was a shame when it all come crashing down when you lost to Melbourne.

Im glad you are a realist, top stuff for a Bombers supporter :thumbsu:

Essendon need mids...not enough quality in the middle. Playing hard and tough is one thing - class is another. Need to trade a quality tall for a quality mid.

The North fan on here who said they might still finish ahead of them when they were 5 games behind does not look so silly now.

Developing sides can't afford injuries, Geelong had players out as well but as a seasoned side they cover it better. Essendon still going in right direction long term.
