Will Gibbs go back home?

Melbourne is the hub of football and Gibbs will be a marque player in this city. His families connection with Kernahan and our recent influx of draft picks, plus Judd will keep Bryce at Carlton for his whole career.:)

Until your dire financial straits are sorted and you can run SIGNIFICANT profits regularly, then you run serious risk of losing players to the "go home" factor.

Fascinating comment this one, when you consider two of the more high profile players to 'go home', Judd & Stenglein, have left two of the AFL's richest clubs to go home.

It seems that a common response to this issue from Carlton supporters is to raise the need for the Crows to have either something valuable to offer in a trade, or the first pick in the PSD; or both.

What negates this though is the free agency agreement being negotiated by the AFLPA. I'm not saying that Gibbs will want to leave, but this could create another option for the Crows at some stage during his career should they wish to pursue him.

You guys can keep him now....Damaged goods, you broke it you bought it.

Seriously though, I think he will stay at Carlton for a long time. Kernahan is a close family friend and he was a North Supporter before being drafted. And no I am not bitter about him not being a F/S. He is not Juddlike, never will be and there are plenty of players around similar to him. If he was a Jon Brown type I would be shattered, but a strong midfielder, meh.

LOL! All the conviction of The Duck in a toilet cubicle saying, "Nobody in here but me".

When the bulldogs drafted Cooney in 03 people said he will defiantly return to South Australia when his to year contract is over.

The poor kid was was a crow before he had even spoken to the bulldogs coach lol. Any way its now 4 years on and he is loving his football etc.

So in Gibbs's case it all depends if he is loving his football and if loves the blues. From my point of view i think he will finish out his playing days at the blues :thumbsu:

Big difference between the likes of Judd and Gibbs. Judd was from Melbourne and naturally wanted to come home as it offered him a lot more than Perth.

Gibbs is from Adelaide, which is a backwater country town. You only have to spend 5 minutes there to realise that most young people can't wait to get out of the place. I'm sure he has no issues with playing his career out in Melbourne.
