Mitchell, Shield and JOM pretty much trumps Carlisle, Steven, Hannebery and the other campaigner.
Definitely a case to suggest Carlisle, Roberton and Steven are far and above our most important players, along with missing our skipper plus McCartin (Hannebery is an unknown quantity at this point and can't exactly say we play better with him yet)

Sure they suffered some serious outs in the midfield but we were really lacking key position players all day and they exposed that during the first 3 quarters (Scrimshaw and Sicily had field days). Don't think its fair to suggest we weren't as inhibited going into it as them

However expect that had Hawthorn not lost Stratton and Frawley (despite us being down a rotation as well) that they'd would have held us off at the end, since they were not as easily able to expose our lack of size late + ran out of legs.

What has Clarkson done wrong?
Axing a whole bunch of key players like Lake, Mitchell, Lewis and Hodge, then still arrogantly believing his team is still in flag contention, and screwing his team long-term in an effort to top up short term.

Once again, injuries like this become more frequent when you play as many older guys as your team does, as do burnouts.
You put Hawthorn “outs” into the team and they would be 4-0.
LOL

He didn’t axe any players Mr Powell 12 Clangers Per Game-Pepper.

Hawthorn 2019 is the best team ever. Alistair Clarkson is the best coach ever. If Hawthorn fail to make finals it would only be because more than half of their team have long term injuries, the remaining players are inexperienced (<20 games), it's a long season, and the umpires have crucified them at every opportunity.

If it wasn't for umpires, injuries, inexperienced players and fixture inequalities Hawthorn would be 4-0 and top of the ladder!!

Go Hawthorn Go!!!

You missed OR...a few times. :p FIFY

Not at all reflective of how good we are, just how weak our opening opponents have been. Fair umpiring or no injuries vs Dogs and we win, no injuries vs Saints and we win.

Now if only Geelong can have 5-6 game-ending injuries next week (Dangerfield, Selwood, Hawkins, Taylor, Blicavs) and we get some of the Doggies/Cats umpiring we have a chance....

You can dress it up however you like, he pushed those guys out, along with all their high draft picks, to accommodate new players.

Mr Powell 12 Clangers Per Game-Pepper.
In other words, Jaeger O'Meara, except with genuine power in his game?

Well take that if the alternative is going into melcarloneverland for a decade or so
You realize Melbourne have a better list than your team right now?

It is? How many flags have they won since picking up Dangerfield?

They've started the season well, but whether or not they can sustain it in September remains to be seen. They still depend heavily on Selwood, Hawkins, Taylor and Dangerfield. 3 of those are 30+, Dangerfield 29.

Purt posters up and about. Must be round 4

Didn’t watch much port but on fox just saw th Powell pepper make one of the weakest efforts ever. Flat track

Who knows. Given their draw being 2-2 is not a great sign, but they have had injuries in their two losses which has hurt, a reasonable chance they'd be 4-0 otherwise. It's probably a case of "wait and see where they're at after the Bye", they could be in all sorts of trouble ala 2017, or in OK shape ala 2018 and be primed for a crack at a high finish.

So... you think we should have kept the older players... so we could get more injuries.

You aren't very smart are you?
