Will Hayward
Spritely Sydney Swans forward Will Hayward enjoyed a rocketing start to his career as he became the 11th-youngest player in the AFL era to reach 50 career goals in 2018. The 2016 draftee’s nippy pace and cunning goal awareness have made him a dangerous option in coach John Longmire’s forward line. A broken jaw and a persistent hip injury limited Hayward to just 12 goals in 13 senior games in 2019, but the South Australian is attacking the 2020 campaign on the back of his first full pre-season. Don’t be surprised if the exciting Swan finds himself on a wing this year.

Will Hayward
DOB: 26 October 1998
DEBUT: 2017
DRAFT: #21, 2016 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Walkerville (SA)/North Adelaide (SANFL)

Also should've received a 50 m penalty in the 1st Q , but that female ump made a shocking decision , she was too far away

She was too close. Should have been umpiring the 4th division at Essendon

Boys, we've managed to get Bedders to acknowledge a great game from Hayward. Quit while you're ahead!
Wasn't a great game and i have praised him in the past , just goes missing at times and is on too big a contract , i DON'T hate him for once and for all

I think I've said it a few times in this thread already but medium and small forward are just about the toughest positions on the ground to play when your side isn't travelling well. You get very limited opportunities to impact the game and unlike a Papley, Hayward doesn't get the luxury of a run through the middle of the ground.

It's no coincidence that wills best seasons and best games coincide with us performing well as a team.

If we can keep performing as a team I think we'll see his best most weeks

Really liked his game today, so just for posterity.

7 tackles inside 50 (next best 2), 11 of his 13 possessions were contested (only Grundy and Chad had more CPs), 22 pressure acts and a terrific workrate throughout, whether presenting up on the wing or locking the ball I50.

Cops a fair bit on here and his workrate isn't always evident (on TV) or admittedly overly productive, but nobody should have any complaints about his output or peformance today. :thumbsu:

Huge last quarter solidified our win. His work rate was enormous. I’ve made this comment before but it seems to me that he often has his best games when he’s more of a senior leader in the forward line and he takes it on himself to lead by example. With Papley off it was one of those times. I’m not suggesting he does it every time by any means but I do think many of his best games come in times when the chips are down and it’s incumbent on him to show the way.
