After Brocks recent average performances, many have posted Nick G to replace him. Based on Nicks limited opportunities so far, will he cut it at AFL level? I hope he will.

Any feedback.....?

Would have given you a definite yes earlier in the year but I'm not so sure any more.

The likes of Brock and Graham may not be the way we want to go moving forward.

Hope to be wrong because as I see it, Graham offers plenty and is a quality accumulator. He's not a line breaker though.

What does that mean?

To early to tell yet if Nick will cut it at AFL level as he has not been given sufficient game time yet. I have a feeling he will but it takes time and MM is not one to just throw a heap of kids into the top level if he can help it. They need to mature a bit and take the baby steps first to see how they handle the big stage.

Nick will be fine and we have a few options to replace Brock not just Nick!! Dylan Buckley is being missed after injury worries and add Cripps , Blaine , Holman etc to that list as well to fill the void that Brock will leave but in all honesty Brock is not going to leave that big of a void to fill as he has struggled this season.

Thanks Chism. Some good thoughts from yourself and Harks. Just thought I'd ask general consensus about Brocks future.
Guess some posters on here aren't morning people.;)

Everything I have seen of Graham suggests a quality young man prepared to do the work required. Is a strong contributor at the NBs who I believe was tagged last week?

I think he will make it but am less confident than earlier in the year.

Some blonde-haired old fella playing for Hawthorn last night named Mitchell runs about as fast as a nosedrip. He goes alright.
He does have a few very important qualities that help him though. He is slow as hell but his footwork in close to give him separation is among the best in the business. Secondly, while he doesn't have a long boot on him, he is elite on both sides of his body. He very rarely misses a target.

Graham still has plenty to work on to get the X Factors needed to help him out. Not beyond him though.

Mitchell was similarly regarded sceptically for his lack of pace, lack of x-factor etc ... He was overlooked in the draft and only got selected after an outstanding VFL season ... Took him a couple of years to get going.

Mitchell is obviously an exceptional player, but he is evidence that size and speed are not the be-all and end-all.

It sounds like he has the skill, so it's a matter of whether he has the nous.

Rogers wants speed.........Mick wants speed.

Graham isn't being played and is still unsigned...........Who knows?

Not a whole lot of speed in this years draft, except for maybe Smith & Pickett who are both from WA.

Jarrod Garlett goes alright. I like him. Not top end but could become something with the right development.

Ahern. Indigenous player from the Calder Cannons footy factory.

Need to add speed with the way sides have punished us out of the midfield and on transition this year.

At this stage we have Graham and Cripps in line to come in and play a similar role to Mclean. Obviously going to be looking at replacing more than Mclean in coming seasons with Judd and Carrazzo also on the way out and a few low quality players in there as well.

Being a midfielder and a more inside player I think that they will be waiting for his body to mature and for him to get stronger and fitter. I like his ball handling and evasive sidestep, I think Graham is more a slower version of Murphy than a Mclean type. Mclean doesn't really have a sidestep like Graham and Murphy do to avoid tacklers and give themselves time. I'm impressed with Graham's ball handling, looks ahead of guys like Bell and Robinson in this department, another area we are poor in. He is also quicker than Mclean and will offer more defensive pressure.

I would hope that Graham can become a real accumulator, someone who can get it 30 or 40 times on regular occasions, something our side is really lacking. I don't think he's there quite yet though he is getting tagged a lot in the VFL and wouldn't in the AFL. I want to see a few 40 possession games in the VFL from him soon as I recon this will be the sign he's taken the next step.

Graham is a ball winning onballer and has yet to really play this role in the AFL, will be good to see him allowed to go into the middle and compete and see how he goes.

The problem I see with Graham is that he appears to be more of an outside/20 metres back of the play type guy. It's fine to be as slow as he is if you're an inside contested ball winner. He always seems to be sitting just outside waiting for the cheap handpass or short little cotchin chip. Will rack them up but do very little damage.

Will be widely hated the very second a speedster like Rutten takes him on.

Has a solid build and looks strong enough for an inside role though, but I think Cripps will take that.

That's ok. We love to have plenty of meat and potato mids without x factor though. Curnow, Bell, Carrazzo, McLean all play together regularly. More the merrier!

No player name calling please. They are not duds or spuds. Articulate your criticism.
Brock is a dud
