He will be picked up by someone. A former pick 3 deserves another chance

Were he was originally picked in the draft is completely irrelevant he has shown very little to suggest he will be a competent afl standard player,

That is false.

The problem is people expect a pick 3 to rack up big numbers.

That won't be him.

The games he played this season he was far from being North's worst player and ahead of some of their supposed bigger names.

Unlike some of those players he applied defensive pressure.

He can play that off the bench type midfield rotation player role.

5 years after being drafted the pick he was selected has no influence as to him getting another chance
there has been enough body of work to indicate the type of player he becomes and unfortunately he looks like going the same way Jack Billings went.
He may get another chance but i doubt he gets to 100 games after playing 50 at North

Drafted in the COVID draft, so selected based on performance in his lower age year, which was running around in a midfield with Rowell and Anderson.

Nek Minnit Gold Coast grab him and he becomes a jet

As I understand it, he can't play anywhere except midfield, and Clarko has players he'd prefer to play mid ahead of him.

Could be one of those "he's not a spud, we just have too many like-for-like players in his position" deals, where it's best for all concerned that he move elsewhere.

Someone will give you a second rounder for him IMHO.
Dew was like this at the Suns, incapable of seeing a players strengths, wanted everyone to be able to play everywhere and as a result many players never got a shot. Fiorini is a good example, couldn’t get a game as Dew wanted him to be a wing, half back, mid that crumbed the ball in the forward line, as a result he sucked until Dimma gave him a steady role on the wing, he then flourished and has snapped up a tasty 4 year contract at the Dons

Hawks will be looking hard at every mature age mid after missing out on Merrett and losing depth.

When you are trying to improve and catch the best teams you don't want your list standing still or regressing over trade period.

This isn't a very popular opinion on our board, but I actually mostly agree with it.

Luckily we still have the development of young guns like Weddle, Ward, Watson, Dear etc to hopefully help bridge any gaps that could form.

Mackenzie another youngster you will hope improves.

How well the Hawks perform in 2026 will come from the improvement from the kids stepping up to carry the load Worpel and to a lessor extent Bruest and Jaith carried. Dear to help fill the gap when Gunstan retires.

Sicily could have a better year in 2026 as he struggled with nagging injuries in 2025.

Experts saying the window is open till 2029 for the Hawks. Around then the likes of Sicily, Gunston and Barrass will be nearing retirement or retired and will need replacing.

They're real good, but not at that level. Still a ways behind Bris, GC. Even the full strength Crows and Pies would cause them much grief..

Didn't Hawthorn comfortably defeat Adelaide in a semi final missing Day, Dear and Morrison?

And Collingwood? Smashed them without Day and Weddle playing.

Lions and GC are a level above the Crows and Collingwood.

That was his point.

Lions list just got stronger again with FAs and academy gun mids.

Crows are a young emerging side with plenty of upside. Need to get better than relying on Rankin to lift them. He wasn't playing in that semi.

No argument from me about the Queensland sides.

Hawthorn and Adelaide are on a very similar trajectory however. Both need another A grade midfielder. Both have some exceptional young talent developing.

Played two close games during the season and split the points.

Rankine and Day are both huge omissions from their finals sides. The Crows would have been beaten comfortably in they semi final whether he played he not though.
