Delay the season for four weeks (for now), scrap the bye and week off before finals and scrap two H&A rounds. Playing without crowds and continuing on is rubbish (and futile, IMO).

Which 2 rounds do you axe?

There would be some teams still playing other teams twice and some teams not playing another team at all.

If you scrap rounds you have to totally redo the draw.

If they do anything, they should play with no crowds and see what can be done with chartering flights.

But I think it should go ahead as is. But maybe Im a dreamer. I mean, I would think everyone would at least be washing their hands properly and staying home if sick. But we all know that isnt happening.

Rounds 4 and 17

Delay the season to the point of every team playing each other once and then a finals series.
If that timeframe arrives and passes and the situation remains, probably best to cancel the season altogether.
That’s not the desired result
But that’s life ...

If they played a 17 game season, removed the byes from the middle and end of the season, they could potentially have 7 weeks up their sleeve. That gives them plenty of time to still have a legitimate competition before finals.

I'm not keen in the idea of shortening the games and squeezing the games closer together. I know the AFL will stuff it up for the teams that have to travel the most.

Squeezing the games together is presumably a Fox idea. They can have a game every night until the season gets canned. The AFL isn't losing crowd revenue with no crowds, Fox removes dead ratings nights. Seven stick with MKR.

This
Tomorrow they should come out and delay matches for 6 weeks

Tennis have done this
Other sports also

They are expecting Caronvirus to peak anywhere between May to September, not sure what delaying the season would do.

Yeah the situation is going to be worse in 6 weeks time which is why the AFL are looking at cramming in more games before they may have to suspend the season.

I feel it’s one that could get better though if you cop short term pain now with full quarantine nation wide and shut down international travel

Not really. Ask the experts...All those measures are just going to delay things, not stop them.

Delay is good in that it will mean our hospitals wont be overwhelmed by everyone needing help at once, and we get to prepare better, but it does hurt in other areas, including that the football season gets disrupted more.

Wonder what sooky reason Vic supporters will use this year to require the grand final at the MCG despite their precious MCC members not being able to attend anyway.

Muh tradishhhion
Hmm I don’t know, maybe a contractual agreement?
