Well we have got rid of 2 of the 3 leaks. Schofield provides little rebound because his decision making and disposal are poor.
His disposal is traditionally good, it has been no more poor than any of our other backmen this season. It also eliminates an option for taking kick ins, which he does reasonably well, allowing us to try and free Hurn up across the HBF.

He also does, when he is in form or gets the opportunity attack and dash through the midfield. Brown has seemed both defensively "soft" this season, sadly he is also a known panicker and provides little rebound, even when in form.

Little bit surprised.
Thought Schofield would make a good matchup for Westhoff, especially when he pushes up the ground, leaving EMac for Schultz and Glass to drift off whoever they have as their 3rd tall at the time.
But I guess the MC are making it clear that form is more important than reputation. With regard to Brown I think that's fair enough- it's pretty tough on the guy to say that no matter how well he plays in the seniors, he's going to get dropped, while allowing Schofield to get by playing average football.

Big task for Brennan/Butler to take Gray with Selwood out. Thought they might give McGinnity a crack.
I was thinking the same.

Neither McKenzie, nor Brown have the pace and agility to keep up with him. Likewise, we have no tall defensive mid who might play that role instead.

Have a feeling he will destroy us.

Personally I think he needs a kick up the bum. Hasn't been as good as last year, (same could be said for most of the them though). Brown is itching to play, I get the impression Schofield took it for granted. He'll be back, I'm sure.

The implicit suggestion here is that you do not rate Browns form?

Schofield has been below average. Not the only one, but he must lift. Hopefully it sends the message.

We would be better off with a underdone rosa or wellingham than a fully fit dalziell.

If we were a little more creative at MC, would have been okay with Brown in, Dalziell out and Schoey to the wing.

Dont mind Schofield being dropped, he wouldn't be close to the first player i'd drop...but he's gotten way too comfortable with his spot in the 22.

Brown gets a bad rap because he comes in for one game, plays on the oppositions best forward, leaks a couple of goals and gets dropped because the injured player returns. He has done ok this year when played and if Schofield isn't performing then its only fair he gets a go.
Agree with this. Brown needs more time at AFL level. If we're serious about replacing Cox/Glass, we need to give more AFL time to guys like Brown and Lycett.

Schofield does look like he's forgotten that he is a defender first and foremost, his run will come naturally but he needs to be a bit tighter.

A lot of our blokes have by the looks. 1-3 calls for big decisions, and that doesn't mean just rotating fringe players around

Think it was purely on matchups

Reality is our other midfielders out are underdone but next week all our plodders will most likely be replaced with Rosa Wellingham and shep the last change would then be Nat for Sinclair and maybe nicks or dick for hams

I think you're forgetting our two weekly injuries.

Happy with this decision.
Has shown no desire for the contest this year and has coasted with ball in hand which has seen him caught too often.
If you don't bring intensity then don't expect to play.
Schofield has all the tools to be a really good player and was last year but if you're not switched on and wanting to be out there then you're a liability.
Sends an excellent message.
May end up playing because of Glass' fitness but this is the tap on the shoulder the entire playing group needs.
100% agree here. He has been very very ordinary this year. There's non of that desperation that he has been renowned for. His decision making has been shoddy, when he has gotten the ball, but the key thing is he hasn't gotten the ball and has provided zero rebound for our back line. Very happy with this decision because he is clearly a first 15 player picked. I guess it could work like how we dropped Wirra in 04 or 05 and then he came back and absolutely chopped up.

What's up with that?
I thought his form has been pretty good?

Thoughts?

Rotation policy. Works for the Aussie Cricket Board...

Seriously though I'm not surprised. Schofield hasn't been playing anywhere near his best form so this may give him a bit of a jolt. He is too valuable a player for us to be out for long. Who knows, he may even come back in as an emergency replacement for Glassy (who surely can't be 100% fit after last week).

He's the only player we have in the backline with pace and footskills. So we dump him? Also thought he would be a great match up for westhoff. Massive mistake imo, especially considering the likes of dalziell are still in the team. I'm pissed. All this shows is that the coaches are loosing the plot and overreacting
