Farewell Schoey! - A team player and great character, wonderful he got a GF medal!
Excuse the pun - 'Will be missed!'

Hope he keeps the podcast going.

That's a seriously good highlight package.

What a warrior, he's exactly the kind of bloke you'd be happy to walk out with every week, and share a beer with after the game.

Absolute heart and soul player and will be greatly missed.

Schoey. Loved him as a player. Loved him in his early years as the dashing half back and loved him just as much as he evolved into a KPP. Never left much on the field.

Let’s not forget though, his podcasts have been a real insight into the club. From early days with Sinclair and chimp Brennan, to him and Buttsy, the serious one with Kerry (go figure) and then to Oscar Allen

He was also host of eagle vision. He’s almost been the voice of the players to the fans.

Here’s to another flag

Reading through his conference does anyone else think he may have something against Simmo? Thanked Nisbett and mentioned he played under some good line coaches. The only time he mentioned Simmo was when he said he was tired of banging down his door obviously as a joke but still.

Schoey was a legend. He was a gun HBF attacking and running off smaller players at will and was a underrated great kick of the ball. His 2018 Grand Final was one of the best games he's played when he didn't lose a single one on one and kept De Goey quiet when he was forward and when Sidebottom went forward to break the tag, Schoey was all over him too. He was selfess as well, being willing to give up his spot in the team so a youngster can thrive or for balancing reasons and can be called upon when a first choice KPD went down or we needed a third KPD to free up our defense since he always stays on a man allowing our interceptors more freedom.

He will be missed by the Eagles faithful, happy retirement Schoey and we will give you that second premiership medal to cap off a great career for the Legendary Mighty West Coast Eagles. We wish you the best Schoey :)

One moment of GF brilliance that stands out to me was his quick thinking and execution with about 6mins left in the 4th - he was was under immense pressure after gov got tackled with the ball, so he gathers and handballs directly to Varco and then tackles him over the line to holdup their momentum.

What an epic performance that was. He was under huge amounts of pressure for big chunks of that game. So often one out against De Goey or Sidebottom who are genuine stars of the competition and came up trumps each time.

EDIT: Just looking on Wiki he didn't even get a vote in the Norm Smith. Pretty unlucky. Better than McGovern on the day IMO. (The Gov did also play well especially given he's injury cloud coming in)

Deadset champ. Well done Schoey on a marvellous career. Integral part of the 2018 flag and held the backline together when EMac and Brown went down in 2015. I can't recall too many (any in fact) bad games. Dependable and reliable and enjoyed the occasional bit of dash. The fact he isn't a walk up start is testament to the depth of our key position backs.
I feel sad that Shep wasn't able to play in 2018, but it would be a travesty if Schoey didn't get a medal from that era. Well done on a fantastic career!

Thar effort on Sidebottom late in the third...how good!! So often in that sort of situation you see a defender give away a free kick because they just end up crashing in to oppo player. He couldn’t have played that any better!!! He was truly “up & about” that day was Schoey...
